Listening to Mary describe how she took bleach to her face was heartbreaking. No child should ever feel like that. No person should ever feel so ashamed like that. It’s like the skin lighteners that are marketed to women in many countries… Ladies….You are beautiful as you are!!! Every color every size.

The lady next too her starts crying such sincere tears hearing the pain she experienced.... Makes me think there's hope yet. Bless her and when she meets her sisters l smiled ear to ear. I must be going soft😊

Folks like yourself with your stupid mind set would see someone like myself with my fair akin & say to yourself oh she is another white girl when in fact I am a light skin fair complexion Latina(specifically Mexican & Colombian)/Native American mix and my father is Mexican/Native American with brown typical skin & My mom is from Colombia she has same skin complexion as that Ms. Vergara actress so my mom's skin genes took dominance meaning I didn't get my dad's browns skin oh welp that is how genetics DNA simply works out..

I am a daughter of intercultural parents (my mom is African American and my Father is European American). Stories like this touch me so much. I have never been in Mrs. Mary's situation but i am so glad she found her father and sisters ❤️ i think intercultural marriage is a beautiful thing and it is sad her parents did not get married and have a future together but she is a beautiful person that represents their union ❤

Praise God for their togetherness the y embraced her from their hearts and her father were a handsome man , his beauty showed in her appearance she's very attractive and sweet personality. For sure many more bits are mixed with American men, nothing new just a coming to terms with truth. To know from whom you came from , your true mother and father.

Very sad. My husband's uncle who was mixed race and had a child with an English woman. When he came back to America he told his parents he wanted to marry her and knew she was pregnant. His father told him no. Even though his mom was white. Because racism was pretty bad for his parents, and they didn't want it for him. I believe it contributed to his alcoholism. She did come to America, his daughter. Doesn't replace not having that dad and other side of your family.

Black Americans come in so many different skin complexions. It is not surprising that typically their mixed-race children would have those facial features and characteristics as she. And not to mention, the terminology coloured is a Jim Crow terminology typically considered to be negative and offensive here in the United States, but that's okay, I get what you're saying.

One more reason why British servicemembers often complained that the Yanks were "overpaid, oversexed, and over here." This is really bittersweet if her father was still alive when she received the erroneous form.

Fact: in English towns and villages where African American troops were stationed the US authorities requested that the Brits impose US Jim Crow style racial segregation, anti miscegenation and other racist practices and policies against African American troops. In the English village of Bamber Bridge these requests so fisgusted the villagers that all the local pubs put up signs saying they would only serve the African American US troops.

When she said that she didn't know what the N-word meant, I thought to myself that I really don't know what it means either. I heard a story once (probably BS) that the word came from mocking southerners that could not pronounce the word 'Negro'.

She looks mixed to me, now, mixed people come in many different ways. And not all of them look totally black, not all of them look totally white. But then... some of them look totally white, and some of them look totally black.

Sadly, many of them couldn't return or make the relationship with British women public because of the segregation laws in the army and the US. They would have faced court marshall and jail.

Before you judge the men watch the whole documentary. It's not as simple and straightforward as you think. There were laws that prohibited the men from having a normal relationship with the foreign women.

Her father was in England before being shipped off to mainland Europe. Lord only knows what he experienced. He and Mary’s mum may not have stayed in contact: no one fully knows what happened This sure make WWII seem like not-so long ago, that three sisters met for the first time. I agree with others who made mention of the sisters’ being very pretty. I do hope they are blessed with long, long, healthy lives.
