Due to low occupancy on this cruise, we were able to upgrade to a Family Suite. The room was serviced by the stateroom attendant but also included a shared Butler and Concierge that made our trip very enjoyable and relaxed. There was also a private dining venue (for breakfast & lunch) for all suites. We felt a little awkward about going there at first but, once we did, we were hooked. The food was high quality and served with impeccable service. The concierge made an appearance at both meals every day to greet guests & see if they needed anything. We've had several upgrades since post covid shutdown and are getting really spoiled!

The window turned out to be better than a balcony because a balcony obstructs your view from the room. Plus it stormed alot so we probably wouldn't have used it much.

that’s what i thought too. the view was amazing though. most of the cruise was not great weather so we would probably have only been out in the balcony two days anyway

Thanks for your review! Do you know/remember how gratuities are affected when upgrading to a suite? We've never had the butler/concierge service before but are considering it. Does NCL add extra service charge for those, or do we tip them directly? Thanks for your help!

That crew gratuity that you are charged in daily basis does go up. As will travel insurance. I found myself having more people to tip in the discretionary tips as well because of a butler, room Stewart, two concierge, but we didn’t have assigned dinner table and “ate around” so really didn’t tip main dining room but did in specialty restaurants on the bill. Also the NcL we were on, the Daw, had many included dining venues including a Chinese restaurant and Irish pub which we really liked.

Very nice room. Does the window open? If it does it is pretty much like having a balcony, while sitting on the love seat.

No, it does not open. Turns out we did not miss the balcony at all with that view! It's called a family suite and maybe it's a no balcony for safety?? Not sure.

@@VickieCarla That makes sense. There are lots of other places on the ship that you can access outdoors anyway. It wouldn't bother me not to have a balcony. The window is great.

@@seaside2001 The room was actually pretty close to the pool area so in two minutes you could be in an open area.

@@seaside2001 there are I’d you can “drop and go” like in the next two weeks. I wanted to go in one or two but hubby not as spontaneous as me.
