Thanks for posting this. So many memories. The Thunderbolt was awesome, I still miss it. It was rough as guts but it was a favourite. Spent a lot of time waiting in line. I loved the Enterprise also. I still remember going on that as a kid with my dad. Had to hold on tight as there were no seatbelts 😂 The Wipeout was only a few years old back then too. I miss it. The Gold Mine ride in the little carriages was great as well. Last time I was there it was still there but closed off. There used to be a ride in a mountain out the back which went backwards and forwards. I think it's at Aussieworld now. Even the old water park they had there was pretty good. If you take a ride on the train you can still see what's left of it - filled up with concrete. Once again, thank you very much 👍
Very cool, during your vintage cars ride you can see the surveyors pegs for the tower of terror which was opened the following year. They originally rerouted the vintage cars around the tower structure before moving it completely to make way for the motocoaster.
Poor old Dreamworld has been through the ringer over the years, it truly was a wonderful place....and it has changed over the years but so has the expectations that is the 2020 human....and it ain't for the better
Just came back from a summer holiday trip at the Gold Coast and dreamworld. It’s not the same by a long stretch. The park has lost its soul. It seemed abandoned and was struggling to stay alive. Non of the ride’s featured at start of this wonderful home movie exist anymore. There’s no entertainment, nobody to greet you and no feeling of the celebration of life. Wiggle world was closed which would be disappointing for little kids, the tower of terror closed, you relied on a downloadable map you have you read off your phone, food was massively limited and of coarse expensive. The place just seemed to have no leadership. All rides were run by 16 yo kids who seemed like they were still learning. I actually felt sad leaving like I was leaving an old relative on their last legs in hospital. Hopefully the plans and funding expenditure planned for the park will bring it back. Don’t feel it was money well spent. My kids would have been happier spending a day on their devices in their bedrooms which is so intrinsically today’s generation. Hope those pre-COVID social delights return fully one day.
I wish they still had all of this and some of what dreamworld is now I reckon if John still owned it the rapid ride won’t have had that accident and still be running so would the mine cart , steam train , paddle wheeler and still have the bush ranger shows. Some one build a time machine and tell John not to sell just buy more land
So much of the 80s park was still there in 96. Now there is very little of that old charm left. I guess only the icecream and lolly shop is what's left of the original, and the bumper cars.
