France ! Fuck your president then & fuck who ever your president is now ! Just like fuck what president Obama had to say! Deployed to mali AFRICA just give my brave loyal courageous & obedient! FEW GOOD MEN CLOSE F1 support! ( I love the french foreign legion more than I think I love FRANCE!)
@@larrylampkin3002 I feel you that we in the Caribbean should unite into one cohesive trading block. Because instability in one country affects the entire region. We need to move beyond the barriers our former colonial masters set in place to thwart Caribbean integration.
@A M she may not be backed by governments or money but she in invaluable in that she articulates very clearly what a lot of us are thinking but aren’t putting in words. She gives the ordinary African person a shot of confidence and believe me, that alone is worth a lot…. I am certain that she inspires a lot of people to hold their heads up high and meet the world head on. With pride and dignity.
@A M to be honest she is a writer who has shaped the lives of a lot of us Africans. Maybe not you. Her books being on the best seller list really did make an impact.
For a French woman to say, as if, an author has.no libraries or book stores in her country. As if Africa is torn! A French person can only see, or has a vision of Africa being a poor country that needs France’s help. She said it with a slight giggle too! I’m proud that the author was able to answer her back as she did. Isn’t it ashamed that White people only see their demise-people of color are multiplying in large quantities & White (pure) people are almost becoming extinct that they can’t admit that people of color have a brain & are not lazy as White people have said. This is only the true side of White people being jealous!
That french lady's face at end priceless and she was taken aback by the audience's applause ...lol.. many of these europeans are stuck in their old washed up glory days
Right! She thought she was so witty asking such a rude and disrespectful question. You could tell after she was intelligently shut down she felt stupid.
@@carinu5444 I told she was joking , since you can’t even imagine a such stupid question asked in public in top of it ! Btw we should force her to buy all Cheick Anta Diop s books she will learn then who were the first who started to write ✍🏾 down “ manuscripts “... and more !!!!
@Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand and you think think France is not corrupt? Which planet are you from? You the people who beat your own down and kow tow to whites! Emancipate your mind. Listen to Chinamanda it will help you!
@Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand are you referring to the corruption being sponsored by the French in Africa? Let's not talk about the deliberate wickedness and sponsored act of destruction of this same Africa by the French. The ignorance on your path and the audacity is alarming. Chimamanda is proven right yet again because it reflects so poorly on you.
She answered it so well and on point. It's crazy that we Africans were forced to learn about Europe including their language. But Europe knows nothing about us. How can you ask if there are bookstores in Nigeria? Europe claims to be a 1st world Continent but there is still alot of ignorance about Africa there. And that's why we keep making street interviews on Africa to spot out this ignorance and educate people.
This is proves that racism and ignorance extends far beyond America. So all of the other countries that want to point how there is no racism in Europe and America should be ashamed (and we should), that question from the interviewer and the response from the interviewee is your proof.
As french, I think this types of speeches are more than ever mandatory for our people to really understand the weight of our legacy. We broke an entire continent and now acting like we are the victims ! Damn, this woman could teach a thing or two to our intellectuals !
I've learnt that, that movement was led by white Narcissists, and clearly you're not one of them by what I see here,so it's quite a breath of fresh air to hear your perspective!
The French interviewer is regretting her stupid and racist question. She opened a whole can of worms regarding French colonization and exploitation of Africa and the Africans as well as racism in France. Chimamanda told it how it is. She highlighted France's hypocrisy and racism. Kudos to her for standing up to the interviewer in a classy and honest manner.
@PuntMan You know french have lost the économic power in africa in 1990 now china are the first exenger in all african counrty's expect Tchad and Tunisia who french are first so...
I admire Nigerians so much. Their intelligence, strength, fearlessness and unwavering pride in who they are and where they come from. Many of us Africans really need to take notes. We must not shake when facing these people.
@BlacK Of All Trades it also applies to latinamerica, I've heard fellow latinoamericanos living in Spain how spaniards discriminates them for eveeything including their accent, but if a crisis hits spain they are the first one to relocate to latinamerica to scape their sorrows
@@sebastianefreeman2795 the same applies to the Américas!! Trevor Noah said it in his comedy stand: "they are now dealing with what they created centuries ago", they shouldn't be complaining about inmigrants either.
100% admire Adichie's honesty what a stupid question - who is the interviewer, she shows such arrogance and ignorance to ask such a question!!!Adichie is an outstanding author who has won the Commonwealth Author's Prize and the Orange Prize - perhaps these are meaningless to the French?
Plus, it does reflect poorly on the French people. If that is the atmosphere that they are in, that it's ok to degrade other people, then that is a reflection of her society. Otherwise, if she lived in a civilised society, she would instinctively know it's not acceptable.
@@yasminflower7 Yes, because one ignoramus suffices to generalise over the entire population. Funny how the likes of you feel so offended by idiotic generalisations that include you, but have no problem of making similar idiotic generalisations yourself.
‘French Karen’ tried to take a jab with an idiotic attempt to be funny while smirking and backing into her chair as she asked a disrespectful question and she received a Verbal Lashing for her efforts. Look at her face by the very end of the video😂😂😂😂 She learned something that day. Wonderful video💯💯💯
Took the words right out of my mouth! I’m a Mexican American, a woman of color who moved to France (I married a Frenchman) and the amount of French Karens I meet is astounding.
No Africans don't play more Africans countries need to tell Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Turkiye alike go back to where you came from, yet before you go payback all the money.
Lol look at the comments of these French people🤦🏾♂️ , they go to a Panafricanist channel spraying their hates 🤷🏾 Racaille-Traitor 🤣🤣 just because she said she got 2 passports!
As an Afro French person, I’m so happy she did that omg, France hides it’s racism behind the “ I’m not trying to be rude I just don’t know” or “ I’m not racist it’s just a question “
You know, ignorance is a source of all kind of discrimination, not just group discrimination. We do that with people we barely know, assuming things. And one thing is having stereotypes from ignorance, other is perpetuating them with malevolence intent. People like you, shouting "racism", don't seem to understand that doing that is counterproductive. You, like everyone on earth, is not knowledgeable in all things, and to fill that lack of knowledge our brain makes a simplified version of what we don't know (ya know, stereotypes). That doesn't mean in the slightest that that person is racist or transphobic or hates a certain group or whatever. And if you punish or humiliate someone who is putting forth these stereotypical questions you're missing a good opportunity to actually improve their knowledge on the subject, and contributing on making a positive change for the world. Most people take this approach well. But of course, there's stupid people everywhere. But of course, in the context of this interview, the interviewer is just incompetent. But nonetheless, generalizing a fucking country and labeling millions of people as covert racists is just plain stupid. Bet you got a rush up there from your moral high ground, hem?
@@Ze_Ninguem01 I think you’re confused, I never said that others couldn’t stereotype or that not knowing something makes you a bad person but as a PERSON THAT IS BORN IN FRANCE FROM CONGOLESE PARENTS, I have first and second hand witnessed France’s racism. They hide ( generally speaking) behind the “ I don’t know” “ it’s just a question” behavior to make excuses for their racism , they don’t only do it to black people but to every person of colour, I don’t know if you live in France or have had a long living term in France but these are experiences that every non white person has in France. They fake use the ignorance card to act racist.
@@Ze_Ninguem01 I studied sociology and I’m not saying that what you said is wrong but I am talking about the experience that many non white french people have experienced, with the law, the government officials , the media, everyday people, etc. You could’ve asked questions before jumping to conclusions and being rude in your last part. That being said have a good day.
Loved this! The body language was everything. Notice how far back the interviewer was leaning and this queen leaned just as far back and spoke truth in spite of that ignorance. I celebrate her graceful articulation of truth. She never lost herself to anger or hurt even while in the presence of someone who sees through eyes of privilege and racism.
As a Haitian person who has spent time living in France, France and French people looking down on the those they colonized and exploited is ridiculous. The proper response is remorse and gratitude.
You can put any black culture in place of Haitian, and connected white culture in place of France and this statement would still be fax. The shit France has done to Haiti period is disgusting.
@@mrsaunders9989 you see I actually think that those countries colonized by England were at least given the opportunity to have British passports, greatly expanding where they could live and study. Haitians are uniquely isolated as the only black country in the Caribbean whose primary language isn't English, making it incredibly hard to live outside of Haiti in neighboring countries; we don't even share a language with our closest neighbor.
They can't stand us when we are educated, beautiful, intelligent, not afraid, not ignorant, sit with grace & a smile on our face, unbothered by their ignorance and still answer their question. I admire our people no matter where they are from.💓💓💓💓🙏🙏🙏
Who is "our people" and what makes them different from everyone else? Do they do something better or have an attribute which makes them superior? You on a slippery slope with that
She was actually very patient and compassionate in responding to a very inane question. She actually showed her graciousness by allowing the interviewer to display her ignorance.
The african people had books before Europeans knew what there were. House of books in wa-set current Arabs call it luxor and Europeans call it library before there were even countries in Europe. Why don't france go to Timbuktu and see books that were written before they were even libraries in Europe. I can't be on tv facing Europeans like this cause i will educate them like they were kids that were born yesterday.
Please, start a RU-vid channel, and start educating! Do you know the number of"so called" African Americans (myself included) thirst for that kind of knowledge? Some of us need knowledge like that just to survive daily life in America!
I agree, yes all we get is what the media wants us to know and it NEVER good or positive, because the hate for no reason. We have never done any thing to them it was all DONE TO US. They have told lies about us for hundreds of year and now everyone believe those lies, we help. We need to know the true from the mouths of African sister and brothers. If not for the internet and RU-vid we would not even know this little small amount that we.
That's a level of grace I would be incapable of. I would have just walked away. I am not even African, but I got so pissed off at that question that I felt like punching that woman through the Internet.
In 2017 a Norwegian woman asked me if we have credit card in Brasil. My answer was just to laugh, I thought it was funny. She got embarrassed because did not understood why I was laughing. 😂
In 2006 a chilean guy asked me why I could apreciate my german neighbours, due to Hitler, just after telling me that he hated the people of Argentina .. I really think that bullshit is universal
@@babydoll6280 That’s also possible. Maybe she was just being racist. I saw it as ignorant because it is likely that the interviewer knew that who she was interviewing isn’t just anybody, but is actually very high profile. She’s likely to have done her research on Chimamanda, and if she did she must have known that she would ‘finish’ her with her words if she intentionally tried to insult her or anything of importance to her. Also in a conference like that, to be outright racist isn’t so common, especially in the company of whom she was in. Racism is usually indirect in such settings. She also seemed embarrassed or ashamed afterwards, but that’s just my interpretation of the situation. ..or she maybe she was just being racist like you said lol. Some people are bold.
@@OnlyLindaB Can we please stop feeling sorry for these racist idiots? She knew exactly what she was doing when she opened her mouth to say that micro-aggressive comment. Like come on now, let's not give people the benefit of the doubt.
@@samirachami2209 its so sad that she asked that question. Had she not been put in her place, the next question would have been "do people know how to read in nigeria"
The way she defends Africa you may think that Africans respect her that much. She has done to Africa so much and as a Kenyan, I envy her art and everything she has achieved. I would love to see more African universities inviting her as a guest speaker in the graduation ceremonies. She resembles a true African spirit.
Forgive me for disagreeing and I may be wrong (if I am, please edify me), but in many ways they still are colonies of France. 'French' is their official language...the language of their oppressor, the colonizer, the interloper. Their currency is tied directly to the French franc, is printed by France and remains ensconced in French national banks. French capital markets dictate the sale price of their commodities and raw materials. The French military oversees development and coordination of their armed forces. And quite often, the political leaders of French West Africa are hand selected by France after having been inculcated in French academies. The hand of France controls every major aspect of their civil, political and economic lives. The rape and plunder of Africa remains one of France's primary, revenue generating industries. That sounds very colonialistic to me. The only thing that has changed is the removal of the appellation "colony". I repeat, for the love of Africa, I want to be wrong. If the aforementioned circumstances have changed, please, please correct me.
Boom 💥 Born in France and originally from Morocco, I left France 23 years ago and it was one of the best decision I ‘ve had done. Whenever I was going back I was disgusted by the rude manners, ignorance, horrible hospitality, coldness attitude ect.... of some of the French pple. That’s why the best have left 🤫 RESPECT Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie 👊🏾
Which country did you go to, after leaving France? And is it better than France? Thumbs up for leaving a bigoted country - there is nothing more important than dignity and self-respect. Nothing.
@@someothername9462 I taught I had replied to you but I can't see it anymore. So bas6 I left France to live in the UK for 8years, then moved to Abu dhabi for 10 years, Portugal for 1 year and now I'm leaving in the Netherlands. It's not always greener on the other side but it's wayyyyyyy better elsewhere than France in my opinion. I definitely feel more comfortable and less stressed. Pple in France care too much in a unhealthy way about others so I'm better off without these unnecessary etiquettes they projects onto you. Sorry but not sorry 😄 Ps: luckily they are some decent pple, I never put everyone into the same bag.
I laughed so hard when she said just being an ass. She spoke facts and the lady who asked the question was so uncomfortable and shook . She got the answer she deserved 😂😂😂❤️❤️🔥🔥
Just by looking at her face, you can tell that she will never forget this moment until her grave. Bottom line: Give it to them whenever you get a chance. That’s it! She put the nail in the right place. Respect Chimamanda! ✊🏾
Adichie! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I have one of her books - she wrote a short book about feminism. One of the best writers in the world today! I'm a Black American - born and raised in New York - a lot of New Yorkers are fans of hers! Anyway, I meet people from all over the world - Nigerians are some of the most educated people I have met - every Nigerian I met got college degrees. Also, Nollywood is the third largest film industry... in the world! A lot of New Yorkers watch A LOT of Nollywood films. Our current president Trump holds the same ignorant views as the reporter in the video - which is one of the many reasons I can't tolerate nor stomach him. I am looking forward to when he leaves office. But, this is why people need to get out more and get to know people, talk to people, educate yourself. We live in the information age - there is no reason why people have to tolerate this level of ignorance.
