A compilation of Carlton's dances from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air TV series. btw the song is "It's Not Unusual" by Tom Jones. For all those who asked in the comments.
Apart from the deceptive complexity of the dance, what makes it a perennial classic for me is how Alfonso Ribiero conveys Carlton's blissful abandon, the sheer ecstasy he feels when he dances.
For some reason it kinda pisses me off when everyone keeps saying that this is the Fresh “Fortnite Dance”. It’ll always and only be “The Carlton Dance” imo.
Classic Tom Jones who was immortalized with the dance of the "Carlton Banks" on "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "One Piece at Crazy" (What do we call this series here in Brazil), this song also danced the dances samba rock by infectious beat that will not let us quit!!
Alfonso Ribeiro had to act like a nerdy weirdo, but he was (is?) an hell of a dancer and he could sing very well. He was a magnificent sidekick of Willy Smith.
After first time of him dancing to .. R Sir Tom.. ya jus waited every episode for Carlton to get his freak on! Amazing how he looked like he was made of rubber... ya never tire of his dancin’.. ever!..this is bloody brilliant.. like the ..Carlton dance show🤣🤣🥰
I don't vote usually on TV progs but may have to break my ban for Carlton as I grew up with Fresh Prince and when he appeared on Graham Norton? I so danced along like a mad eejit!! :)
I just had a thought.....we all should be like carlton. To hell what ppl think about us, we should do our own thing and enjoy doing got to the fullest. That's what I get just by watching this man enjoy himself as he dance.
Alfonso Ribeiro, one of the greatest underestimated TV 's actor of the 90's in comedy's domain.... he hasn't had the career he deserved..... so sad..... he was so funny :-D
*CARLTON:* It's not unusual To have dad be proud of me It's not unusual 'Cause I love conformity And when I see dad hangin' with Will instead of me It's not unusual to see me cry I wanna die *TOM JONES:* It's not unusual to mess up at any time And when I see you so down and out It's such a crime *CARLTON:* Did you ever wanna be loved by anyone And then you let them down I blew it yesterday My trust fund's gone away *TOM JONES:* My friend it happens all the time And life will never do *CARLTON:* What you want it to *TOM JONES:* Don't give yourself Such a hard time! *TOM JONES:* It's not unusual to feel bad at any time, It's not unusual to feel sad at any time *CARLTON:* But if I ever am in a jam at any time *TOM JONES:* It's not unusual to find that I am there for you, Whoa whoa oh whoa oh, Oh whoa oh whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa
As you probably know after last night, he said he was pigeonholed as a Carlton character, and he didn't get the chance to show there was more to him than Carlton.
TheEnergyMagic Alfonso literally played the Carlton character too well. A similar thing happened with Jaleel White as Steve Urkel. It is impossible to move past those roles because people don't separate the actor from the character in their minds.
