Producer Arthur Rankin finally revealed on NPR in 2007 that Dolly considers herself a misfit due to her low self-esteem issues and psychological problems. She's a doll who feels that she is unlovable.Dec 11, 2013
Quite a few people in the holiday special was jerks, it's surprising considering they all come from the North Pole and its a magical place. You'd think the folks there would be nice.
That place is chocked full of my childhood. I grew up watching Sesame Street and The Muppet Show. I love all things Jim Henson. Thanks for showing that place.
Dolly's reason was never explained, but Arthur Rankin Jr. said it was a more psychological. Like she was there cause she was rejected or abandoned too many times.
Being from Atlanta I have many fond memories of The Center. Just to let people know, it's The Center for Puppetry Arts. Just in case someone wanted to look them up and/or visit.
Also, now that I'm finally able to share the big news... www.ajc.com/life/arts-culture/center-for-puppetry-arts-gets-original-figures-from-rudolph-cartoon/Z6MHM7DI4BH55D4XUEULJABVKM/?fbclid=IwAR0QxhFVBniu67fKiClLkoFboLWuQG7SWJ0Y9GRhay541OP5L7snHkTrt5E
I'm a day late, but, I just wanted to thank-you Jacob for this. I was 3 years old when Sesame Street stepped on the scene. I loved all the characters. I admit I cried watching this because it brought back a flood of memories as it help shape my life. Sorry for the dramatics. Did I say thank-you? THANK-YOU. LOVE WHAT YOU DO.
From the dark crystal, Adam the Woo who loves that movie said on one of his videos that I guess when he was a kid the skesis scared the crap out of him.
I love your channel! I have cancer and put my bucket list together. I know I'll never be able to make it to these places. You are able for someone like me to see these places and have the privilege of experiencing at least some of those places. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I went there on a field trip when it first opened. It was awesome back then but I was pretty young so I’d love to go back I’m sure I’d enjoy it much more as an adult. Thanks for sharing Jacob
So happy you still get the opportunity to do this! I live in Green Bay and a lot of things (all museums) are still closed and I haven't gotten to do anything in almost a year 🥺 i have a whole museum bucket list thay I wanted to do this summer but it didn't happen so I just come here and watch these to make myself feel better. I love this channel and would love to be doing what you do as a means of income. Keep doing you 🖤
this video is awesome my family and I decided one Christmas to collect one thing so we decided to collect all the rudolph Characters we have 3 totes full of rudolph stuff. its exciting to see how big the puppets actually are
Hi Jacob very awesome and cute vlog at the Famous Christmas Puppets of Jim Henson creations! Used to enjoy watching Sesame Street when I was younger! Very educational show to watch back in the days! stay well and safe!
I agree with you about Santa being different in Rudolph. Every other Rankin Bass Santa is sweet and wise but Rudolph Santa doesn’t give a sh- oops it’s Christmas Eve gotta be nice 😉
The episode of Sabrina started John Ratzenberger as Santa Claus who injures his leg so Sabrina steps in and takes his place, riding her vacuum cleaner with Salem dressed as Rudolph she delivers the Christmas presents to the whole world,, you can see the little goggles salem wore on bottom right hand side of the display stand.
Great video! We went there summer of 2019 during our road trip and had such a great time. I was literally amazed how big it was and how many displays they had. Since it wasn’t the season for it, we didn’t get to see the Rudolph display or show. That’s awesome that you were able to see the display at least.
If you like this, you should also search out videos of the Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, NY. Its fantastic. includes more than just puppets, from his entire career.
there’s a famous puppet tv show in Chile named 31 Minutos (31 Minutes) is very well known in latin america, hopefully one day they make it to the museum
