Frank helped intergrate Las Vegas hotels in the 50's after he found out that Sammy could only entertain but not stay in the hotels. Frank made it known he was not pleased. He also helped Boxer Joe Louis with a job as a door man when joe was down on his luck. Say what you will about Frank he helped many people without regard to color! I will always love the man!

Wow, the thought of Lauren Becall being cremated and sharing the same Crypt with Bogie, shows she truly loved him. I met her in the early 80's when i was a warehouse worker at Kroch & Brentano's bookstore! I was assigned to carry up books for her to autograph. How i got the job was because of Mr. Krochs Chauffer, he and i would talk. And one day he was assigned to drive her from her hotel to the book store...She was so cool! That made my entire year!

I never knew Bogart founded "The Rat Pack!" His widow Lauren Bacall was the female lead in John Wayne's final film "The Shootist" in 1976. What a cast of Hollywood legends that movie had: Wayne, the greatest Western actor of all time; Lauren Bacall; Ron Howard, who at that time was still appearing in front of the camera before his legendary directing career; and Jimmy Stewart, IMHO THE greatest actor, period, of all-time! Loved Dean Martin in his legendary partnership with Jerry Lewis (what a shame they split up), and also his hilarious celebrity roasts!

Very interesting and informative video Steve. The back stories were great! It's interesting that so many of the rat pack died from throat or lung cancer since smoking was a part of their stage persona. Peter Lawford's heart attack may have been a result of smoking as well. They lived hard and possibly died from it. Sad. So many great years of entertainment from this group.

Thanks. Big Dean Martin fan. When Dean was diagnosed a couple of years before his death, his doctor said they'd do all they could to treat him medically. Dean stood up, shook his hand, thanked the doctor and said, thanks doc, but if you don't mind, I've got a nice bourbon waiting for me at home and I don't want to keep it waiting. He left to make the best of the time he had left. Now, that's the way to do it. That's class.

ALL THE WAY, is my favorite Sinatra song, from the 1957 film THE JOKER IS WILD! Everytime I tried to see Bogart's grave the door was locked! Nice to see his and Sammy's graves. Yes, Sammy was part of a singing/dancing trio with he, his father and uncle. In fact that's how Sinatra met Sammy back in the 40's and was impressed with his talent. Keep up the good work! Thanks.

I really love Frank Sinatra's duet with his daughter Nancy on "Something Stupid." It's just a sweet little song. And then there are the melancholy songs that he sings better than anyone, such as "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)" and the unusual "It Was a Very Good Year."

One of my top favorite Sinatra recordings is the late 1940's rendition of...."Everybody Loves Somebody"! He recorded it some 27 years before Dino's hit version in 1964! I have almost all of Sinatra's late 30-1940's Columbia 78's. His "wartime" romantic period. Also have those "swingin'" Capitol sides! I have some3,000 78's, From Caruso to Elvis!

"All the Way" was the key song in "The Joker is Wild". My first and most loved Sinatra film with Eddie Albert. The story of Joe E. Lewis who died 50 years ago tomorrow, June 4, 1971 (I didn't know that until I looked it up.. I could only remember 1971) For Sammy.. so many memories.. one of the biggest was Jesse Jackson's final words of his eulogy. "Rest, Mr. Bojangles. Rest."

I also never knew Bogart started the Rat Pack. Also thought Bogart was older. He looked older. Favorite Sinatra song is "Summer Wind". When "Everybody loves somebody sometime" went to number one and knocked off the Beatles Dean Martin called Elvis and told Elvis since he couldn't knock the Beatles out of number one, he'd do it for you, pally..... Dean said the same to his son who was a huge Beatles fan.

Sammy Davis Jr... I was SO blessed to be born early enough that I got to see all his TV specials live when they were first broadcast, and enjoy so many of his appearances in films. He and Frank and Dino and Joey were at their peak in Vegas during my childhood, and sometimes we got to see bits of the show on TV. Oceans Eleven was a dream movie for us.. all our stars, and exotic Vegas all in one. Hard to pick a favored one... Frank and Dean were fantastic.. such a fan of both. Peter always impressed me as a 'hanger on', not of the same caliber as the rest. Sorry, just my opinion. Sammy, Dean, and Frank were the magic trio. Between the 3 of them, you had it all... and each had the full-montie. No one comes close... they set the bar, and set it high.

Hi Parker, In case you didn't see this response I sent to those who asked. Thanks for sharing and hopefully you'll be able to share with your family when the time is right. Jim and I decided it just made more sense to start a second channel for our RETIRED LIFE WITH STEVE AND JIM videos. So, now I have two channels. If you search retired life with steve and jim on RU-vid, our other channel will pop right up, if you want to watch it. Trying to combine these two very different channels into one just made everyone mad and confused and I lost 1,000s of subscribers. So, I switched the name back to VISITING GRAVESITES, which was the channel name I had before my mom had her stroke. I changed it after she had her stroke because I didn't think I would have time to take care of her and to visit cemeteries. I know it's crazy to change my channel name so often, but each change made a lot of sense at the time, LOL :-) Thanks for hanging in there through all the name changes. And who knows, maybe I will get in the Guiness Book of world records for the most RU-vid name changes LOL!

As I believe I had mentioned B4, Steve, you have to be one of only a handful of gravers (or fewer) who has had the opportunity to visit all of the Rat Pack members w/ final resting sites. There probably isn't any other YT vloger who has accomplished such a goal, and then later on posting those occasions, so now you should add an extra feather in the cap regarding that. I would count "The Candy Man" as my most likely my favorite Davis song being that was my timeframe back then. From Ol' Blue Eyes, "Put Your Dreams Away (For Another Day)". And Dino, "Mambo Italiano". Incidentally, I just caught character actor Frank McGrath performing among his final film roles in the two Don Knotts comedies "The Reluctant Astronaut" and "The Shakiest Gun in the West". And Bogie is my 6C7R, 8C3R and 9C2R, being related to both of his parents.

Anthony Newley was a talented song writer, he wrote or co wrote, gold finger, " What kind of fool am i"" Gonna build me a mountain" " once in a lifetime" " on a wonderful day like today" " who can i turn to". He was a close friend of Sammy, may they all rest well.

The Rat Pack had style and were good at singing and they were funny too. A perfect combination. Would have loved to been at one of those shows at The Sands, Las Vegas in the 60s. My favourite Sinatra song too hard to chose. But The Summer Wind, It was a very good year, Luck be a Lady, Moonlight in Vermont, Day-in-Day-Out, Saturday Night (Is The Loneliest Night Of The Week), Come Fly With Me and My Way. I love the song Fly Me To The Moon, but I feel that song belongs more to Dean Martin. Thanks for the Rat Pack Tour. As always you'll find me at the bar. Cheers.

Very cool Mr. Steve. Interesting to know these guys wound up. I didn’t know Humphrey Bogart was a member. Was wondering if you have ever done a video of game show hosts from the past. Ok Mr. Steve, Blessings.

My favorite song from Frank Sinatra is “Something Stupid “ that he sang with his Daughter, Nancy. I have a cute little story about my Parents and Dean Martin (whom they never met). My Mama had a giant crush on Dean Martin and every time he came on TV my Daddy would just have a “conniption fit”. He was totally jealous of Dean Martin and just hated him. In fact, Daddy used to call him a “Critter”! A critter was the worst thing that a person could be called! One day, Mama said something to me about Dean and my Daddy went off the rails, until I finally asked him if He thought Mama would ever meet him. He said No, so I asked him why are you ranting about him. He just looked at me and went to his shop! Dean Martin was the ONLY entertainer that my Daddy hated. It always baffled me!
