Britney would’ve been one of the best vocalists of she kept her original tone of her voice. When she got signed the record label told her to do the baby voice and that ruined her vocal chords!!
Yes! She had some chops. That baby voice while iconic now is not what made her as popular as she is. Her personality, dancing, performing, and catchy songs all did that. She could have had more vocal credibilty and it's sad.
Did y'all notice that the baby voice has a similar raspiness that T-Boz has. Also, "Hit Me Baby One More" time was written for TLC, so the producers might have wanted her voice to be similar to T-Boz but more baby-ish.
Probably still very successful! I do think she would’ve been more into acting now than music tho (but I still think she’d make music here and there). She seemed very passionate about it. But who knows 🤷🏾♀️ I always loved Aaliyah, May she Rest In Peace.
Britney had a very, very good musical theatre voice when she was a kid. It's a shame they ruined that with pop and starting making her adopt bad techniques just to make a sultry sound in her music, ultimately that ruined her vocals.
Kelly Rowland still makes music but she said she had problems because people would keep comparing her to Beyoncé ... I guess she felt like they were saying she was trying to sound like her? Which is weird because they naturally sound alike it’s just that Beyoncé voice is stronger and more controlled

Aaliyah's was the best, then Kelly and Beyonce. They sounded the closest to how they were in their prominent careers. The rest were okay but they still sounded childish and you could tell they still had a long way to go in developing their vocals.
When she got signed by Jive Records back in the late 90s they got max martin to change her voice so it would sound unique and different among all of those powerhouse vocalists, also they wanted a really great bubblegum pop vocal. She still have this voice is just not as controlled and perfect as it used to be.
You can see from this with Britney voice as a kid how they had her change for voice to be higher for like the image they wanted which may have damaged it especially for so long
