Mariah didn’t write this song but for me feels like it’s her song because nobody sang it better than her and set the standard for the upcoming versions.
How is Celine's version not not included. Or Whitney's for that matter. I still think Celine and Mariah's versions are the best of all time. Both sang it differently but still so beautifully. Mariah takes you to church and Celine's brings you to your knees with her angelic arrangement.
Mariah Carey definitely inspired all the subsequent covers of this song, especially by pop/r&b singers. Her 1994 cover remains the best one to date. At this point it will never be topped. At the same time I love the other versions by other artists and them bringing their own flair to it and not trying to copy one another.
Honestly tori was just amazing, like all the singers are super talented but her tone is just perfect and her notes are so fluid and effortless and I feel like for me that is what sets her apart
Here are the notes sung by each singer for those curious (please correct me if I'm wrong): Jennifer Hudson - E5 Sohyang - A5 Martina McBride - D5 Alicia Keys - C5 Jordan Smith - C5 Morissette Amon - B6 Jessica Simpson - E♭5 Carrie Underwood - E♭5 Leona Lewis - D5 Jacquie Lee - F♯5 Lea Michelle - E5 Lauren Daigle - C♯5 Delta Goodrem - E♭5 Kelly Clarkson - E♭5 Christina Grimmie - E5 Nicole Scherzinger - D5 Tori Kelly - D5 David Phelps - C♯5 Mariah Carey - B6 It seems the sweet spot for most women to sing the climax of this song is the E♭5/E5 range!
Poor girls, "Perfection cannot be improved" LCC., The way Mariah sang this song is perfection in timing, emotions, notes, breathing, her tone, presence, agility, annuciation and musically. That is way she is Mariah !
Mariah set the bar high back when she sang it in church. Then everyone that followed just copied her or were shouting there wasn't much feeling. Celine sounded great too :) Two amazing divas!
I'm so glad yet saddened at the Same time that Christina Grimmie is finally getting the recognition she's always deserved, she would have been one of the greats, that's for sure.
Mariah.. Honestly there’s only very few singers who sung this song made me feel God. Also Mariah owns Christmas so artists who even cover the Christmas songs better give their all because Mariah recorded some songs too and they should be prepared to be overshadowed by All I Want For Christmas is You or basically Mariah’s Christmas albums.
I think we all think Victoria is slept on as well🤷🏾♀️ seriously no shade😊 but I feel like Victoria is slept on too she seems like she has a nice decent voice.
Jennifer - slayed as usual Sohyang - over the top Matrina - no Alicia - no Jordan - no Morisette - slayed Jessica - solid Carrie - solid Leona - solid Jacquie - no Lea - slayed Lauren - solid Delta - solid Kelly - solid Christina - solid Nicole - slayed Tori - slayed David - slayed Mariah - she invented christmas. So winner
Mariah currently sets the standard for this song. New singers try to copy her version but fall short on the high notes....i believe out of all the newcomers, only Morissette Amon came close to the whistle note of Mariah. She sang this song live in a mall with cheap sound system while others sang in a studio or grand concert setup.
@Sleep Me She lipped that climax. In fact she always lip that climax as well the climaxes of all her other songs. I have never seen her perform that climax live ever. Morissette Amon is the only person I've heard that can replicate the Mariah studio version with live singing.
@@overzit0444 I already knew Katrina was amazing but didn't expect her to hit that whistle 😱. But I think Mori's voice resembles the Mariah studio version more in terms of voice texture and vocal placement.
Prayag Agarwal her tone can get a bit annoying, but she is not shouting at all. actually probably has the best technique in the industry right now. if she had mariahs tone oh my god
I learned this song to Carrie's version, and i stand by her version. You don't need to sound like a whistle to be a good singer, and hers was so pure!! I have to admit that Kelly, Celine, and Jordan sounded AMAZING though...
Aside from Mariah who set the bar really high, there are two who I just discovered and who I thought were really impressive in this video : Morissette Amon and David Phelps
@@monroemc8412 anytime one uses the word "always" it's easily disproven and the statement is not sustainable. Can we put this to rest, because I see it quite a bit, and its not based in fact, let's just deal with facts. Does Morissette cover some of Mariahs material? : Yes , a handful of songs Why does she sing them the same Short answer because she can, long answer, all Lambs know this is a damed if you do damed if you dont situation, don't follow Mariahs blueprint and get labeled as you shouldn't sing her songs because you don't have the ability, or in her case stick to the blueprint and strive to do it justice and get labeled as copying.. you cant win Why does she ALWAYS sing Mariahs songs? The fact is she doesn't always sing Mariahs songs. Her Mariah covers get attention because theyre bomb, but a simple search will show clearly that barely makes up for 1% of her repertoire Morissette performs 12 months of the year several times a week thats on average 16 or more performances a month (and thats underestimating) several songs a set, add full concerts you do the math. This year (the entire year) she performed a Mariah song 5 times 6 if you count All I want for Christmas last night. . She does not Always cover Mariah songs Why doesn't she sing her own songs? She does, in fact her signiture original Akin Ka Na Lang, is about to hit 100 million views, a song shes sung far more than any Mariah song. Her second most viewed song is Little Mix "Secret Love Song" with 120 million views. She has an album of originals and singles she regularly performs. Those are the facts, I think we need to be careful throwing around generalizations that are not based in truth. I will say you were gracious in acknowledging that she was good and that is commendable. I don't mean to be argumentative, but accuracy is important especially to be fair to the artist in question. Morissette.
Kelly is one of my fav singers Karrie underwood did the tonight show with oh holy night that was beautiful.. just such an amazng song with all amazing vocalist
everyone's prolly gonna hate me on this but there's no substance or depth on sohyang's vocals but her high octave range is impressive, i'll give her that.
I loved Kelly's and a few others! All of the were really good- there were two or three that were a tiny bit flat, but otherwise they all were fantastic!
Mariah!!!! When mariah covered this song some (if not all) of them younger generations copied her version. With or without the whistle part... but what the even heck its christmas. All of them did an awesome job. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Rip christina grimmie...gone too soon 😔
To me the 2 standards for this song are Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. They did it so differently and both are so fulfilling. However if we have to pick the most influential one is Mariah's arrangement. Celine is a bit more conservative and ballady whereas Mariah tried a more "operatic" approach and really made it unique and sets her apart from every other one. Let's also remember Mariah in this clip had released the song 16byears earlier and in here she was 7 months pregnant with twins.
All of them amazing, beautiful, but Mariah's is iconic. Maybe that's the reason why we see many artists trying to imitate it. But every single one of them had something beautiful in it
