They are fantastic marching bands with well-defined characteristics, starting with the quantity of components and consequent quality of the distinct musical work that both achieve as a final result, where the Norfolk Spartan Legion manages to reproduce its musical repertoire with a very high quality, almost infallible, where the harmony and technique complement each other unquestionably, in addition, their millimeter evolution is precise and does not compromise the band's sound. The drum majors, despite only being two, give a fantastic performance leading the groups and also conducting some parts of the performance, finally the marching and flags ensemble also complements the general performance with precise movements with the necessary emphasis. The Marching 100 is public and notoriously gigantic in comparison to the Norfolk Spartan Legion, but as the saying goes, quantity is not quality, this is where perhaps the biggest difference between the two bands lies, not that the repertoire and quality of FAMU's work is bad, you can hear the harmony and the musical sense, but the end result is very different between the two. I point out this issue as the one with the greatest disparity between martial groups. I also think that the evolutions at Florida A&M University were confusing where only Percussion played, and perhaps because they were very complex evolutions with a lot of dispersion they thought this would compromise the performance of the songs. Finally, the Drum Majors put on a real show and perhaps the marching corps and flags could do a better performance. In my humble opinion, these are two fantastic Marching Bands as I said at the beginning, but the Norfolk Spartan Legion won this battle!👏👏👏👏👏
Norfork has always been very sharp to me . Between them and BCU a few years ago. Norfork resembles a core style i dont like it but i i like that the have there own style . They will be on point early but If the hundred that ended the season thats trying to climb back that 2000 to 2011 status that we all remember
FAMU drum majors number reflect the size of the band. . Them going to seven ooooh sht we bigger. Not that 2010 10 drum majors but we getting back. We still trying to get out that 2012 death penalty we got
@@troystrong8041 FAMU does not just get larger. They have been above 500 in those era's mentioned but they were detailed and on point. If we're growing we're growing with quality personal. They will also add staff. They could have just easily added bodies, but just like any great hbcu there's a level of greatness required to get in
@stevenholiday. Please keep ripping the dirty dozen until there back at the level of the past. Ive watched hundred all my life and to me they were always the sharpest. Besides the gestapo (sax ) they marched the hardest. . When they would spend the flags it would sound off thru out the stadium like an instrument ( you could hear them on the runs just like you hear the rest of the band) now there just there going thru the motion. The clarinets are actually out marching them and out dancing them. Take the criticism and Step your game up !!!!. I miss the old dirty dozen
I'm a Rattler I was born on campus The Dirty Dozen use to get it. They stood out they was on point they all marched 90 they danced at 120% . The last few years I haven't seen the effort. He says what he says because the expectations of the dirty dozen because of the past that we don't currently see
NSU is more precise but Famu show was more entertaining and had a theme to it that brought the whole show together. Being about to move and play and still be clear. 🧡💚🧡💚🐍🐍🐍🐍
