This one of my favorite moments from Battle of the Bands archives. It was special because my daughter was a student at FAMU at the time, worked for us part time and gave me some great crowd shots.
This is what we are missing in our primary schools. Thanks to FAMU for setting an example that regardless of what politicians say, we will remember our God at HBCUs.
When we filmed this, the song was so stirring it felt like electricity was moving through me. This young lady is annointed. I still fill it every time I play it pay. Everytime I get a youtube email, I celebrate by playing it and receive it as a blessing. To God be the Glory. Lets pray for the Marching 100.
Great video, and the electricity ⚡️ you feel is Gods spirit, just lift your hands 🙌🏾 in praise. The young lady singing is named Star Swain, she is on here on RU-vid. In fact she went viral a few years ago sing the National anthem at the Lincoln memorial. You should look for that video too. Peace ✌️ and blessings.
I got into grad school at FAMU after everything i went through .. i listened to this as i submitted my application. God continue to bless me . Bless famu and bless the famuly. Forever and always. 🤍
She sang at my friend’s funeral in Savannah. He was a member of the 100 fall 2k. She literally shut the city down for a day. He was very popular back home and this was one of the largest funerals the city had seen at this point… She sent him home the right way..
As a member of the 100 in 1963-1966 before the internet when the 100 was on television in black and white, I still feel in 2019 the excitement of planning for pre drill. At the good age of 73 years old my points and drive are certainly not what they were as a freshman in 1963. I thank God for the opportunity and Blessings to march in the 100 and play Bassoon as principal Bassoonist as a freshman. Thanks for the memories(!!!) R. Thompson
Thank God for you and all those band members who kept the spirit alive for the present age. I was visiting Barbados recently. They had a pre Carnival band playing. I could hear that patent FAMU flavor I ran over to them.and shouted FAMU. FAMU!. Several members began smiling and nodding yes.
Praying you are still doing well and thankyou for helping legacy continue. Without the 100 FAMU wouldn’t be what it is today. The culture and history stays in the band
I marched in 100 in 78, and up until seeing this video I didn’t think the hundred could get any better. But this right here, is off the charts. Sarge arrangements are truly one of a kind.
2:04 I got chills all over and my eyes got teary. I give the brotha holding her stand mad props I would have had my eyes closed and hands towards the heavens!!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
All I can say is WOW!! I am a diehard, to the core SONIC BOOM Alumni Drum Major (1990-92) but this young lady makes me have a new level of respect for FAMU. Absolutely incredible! Does anyone know where she is now? Please tell me she has a CD... cuz I'm buying! I'm talking Aretha Franklin, circa 1968, chills all through my body!
I web up every time I watch and listen to this love everything about this school, this band Go rattlers go! Never stop always God the praise I surely do at all times. How grateful I am to be a Ratter from a little girl living at 607 Porkinghorne When the residents names appeared on at the entrance and Dr & Mrs Gore had activities for students children. I go back to Lee hall when they showed movies on the weekends. Parents are Rattlers too lived next door to drum major Eugene Baker out of Jacksonville, FL. Attend Bond elementary school in Tallahassee. What wonderful memories I have .I am grateful Forever. Yes I will praise him and offer thanksgiving with 😹😊😊😊😊.
I watch this video about once every three months and it still gives me chills! That girl singing...Oh My God! I'm a diehard JSU Sonic Boomer but this girl just does it for me...EVERYTIME! Anyone know her name and why in God's name does she not have a CD out?
Can’t go a day without watching this video I’ve always wanted to be apart of band growing up. They did an amazing job when I’m having a bad day watching the video always makes it better
Just imagine how the heavenly angels sound singing in unity to the Most High, Enoch said words can't even describe it... furthermore just imagine how it sounded when King David was singing praises to the Most High singing and dancing that it came to a point the glory/presence of the Most High came down in a thick cloud and it was so powerful they couldn't even sing and dance anymore...
There go Yah's people doing what they do...the man next to the soloist was just shaking his head in disbelief...mesmerized like every one of us listening...hay!
