Good video, friend. I cleaned mine last week after two years of use. However, I would like to add two things to make your video even better and help anyone who will do the cleaning in the future: 1) Always disconnect the battery before doing any procedure, because if you touch anything metallic with the board turned on, it could cause irreversible damage to the equipment. To remove the battery cable you must push the metal plug northwards and after that pull the connector upwards (towards your face, not southwards). 2) 1:22 Don't remove the cable like that, you're forcing it like that. Before pulling it, you need to lift that little black pin that is just behind the white part. This pin is a latch that must be released to remove the cable without forcing it. Other than that, very good video, friend! Sorry for the bad english, it's not my native language.
Thank You for the Video My one is turning 3 years old now the CPU Ryzen 9 has been running quite hot 94-97°C offload and GPU 3060 60-62°C offload after gaming. I feel it's time to clean her up. She has been amazing over these years. Can you suggest an alternative tool for the tweezers I got no tweezers. Also in future if I get another SSD does it come with the thermal pads? Please help and thank you.
😁thats all bro ,simple cleaning only needed there is nothing intense to do. Some people find this difficult or theyre scared that they would damage their laptop but the fear is reasonable for the price of these laptops
I have ROG strix G17. I was thinking if I need to replace my liquid metal or just leave it there. Cuz normally changing thermal paste once every 2 year’s keeps the cpu/gpu cool but liquid metal is something I am new to and its conductive unlike thermal paste. So I can technically cuz a short circuit while replacing it. Whats your take on that? Also recently the performance mode in armoury crate has changed its name to balanced mode for me. The performance for both mode seems to be exact same but idk why the name change. Did it happen for you? Also I always game on performance mode rather than turbo mode cuz the fan noise is actually louder than my desktop in turbo mode. Anyways thank you for the video!
yeah i also think that changing the thermal paste but as you know it a liquid metal cooling type. i think you should give the laptop to the service centre and ask them to replace it, so that no damages or warranty wont be gone. yeah i also recently noticed my performance mode has its name changed to balanced mode, these modes actually doesnt matter that much in performance in any laptop, it just controls power plan of you laptop and increase or decrease the fan speed. i actually always play on turbo mode because turbo mode offer more fan speed but i didnt face that much of a loud noise cause my laptop speakers will cover up that fan noise while gaming. i think you should clean the fans for every 3 months if you are in a city or in a lace where dust gets around easily. I clean my laptops fans for every 3 months because in my city dust and pollution are little bit high , so the dust gets in easily.
@@TECHCRUSADER8055 Thanks for the reply. Cleaning the fans depending on the dust accumulation makes complete sense. I will clean mine later tho as it still runs fine and for noise maybe I am not used to fan noises. My desktop is real quite with good fans so compared to it the laptop sounds like a jet engine in turbo mode. Then again I turn on ray tracing and max out everything, pushing my RTX 3060 to its limits. I would look into more details regarding liquid metal. I heard if its a copper heat sink, it absorbs some liquid metal, so its recommended to change it the first year. Later on you can go without changing it for couple years!
@@Noooo23523 yes it is no dont do that its only in asus rog strix i thing liquid metal last longer but can dry out as he says go to the service and ask them i need my to relace but i have no warranty any more so i do it myself
Thank you for the video! I am looking to buy this laptop but i have some questions, would you please help me with that? - How many degrees did the CPU rise after 1 year? - Have you ever changed your CPU's thermal paste since you bought the laptop? - How did you reconnect the led strip ribbon cables? Is there any easy way? Thank you!
Thanks for watching my video😁 I think i almost ran upto 90 degress one day when i continously played gta 5, and control game with RTX On at my friends house and the room temperature was really hot, it was a sunny day and though the laptop was hot i didnt face any performance issues. I think 4-15 frames might have dropped. But you wont notice the performance changing if you dont use any FPS counter. But i really love the cooling system of this laptop This laptop tries its best to not reach above 85 degrees at my house while i play high graphics games within normal room temperature But if you use AC while gaming this cooling system just cools down the laptop really well And I have not changed the thermal paste of my laptop I actually forgot to record the clip where i reconnect the cables to the light bar because i changed the camera angle for that part. But reconnecting the light bar cable is not hard you just have to insert the end of the cables to the place where you pulled it out from And for me this laptop is more than enough with its performance, design, and everything
@@TECHCRUSADER8055 Oh, i see. Thank you for the quick answer 😁 Do you always play in performance mode? Or Turbo mode maybe? My friend have this laptop too, and as i can remember, when he play the games in silent mode the temp wouldn't rise above 80 degrees even fans are not working. But as far as I saw yesterday, even if he was playing in silent mode, the fans were working (not so quiet for sure), and the temperature was rising to 90 degrees. So we started thinking about whether the reason for this was the warming of the air or the dusting of the fans. That's why i am here actually, to check if the fans are dusted or not 😁 As another user of this laptop, what do you think about this issue? Thank you so much again.
And i always use turbo mode as default all the timewhile gaming. I only use the silent mode when im just watching movies or browsing through the internet and other basic tasks
@@TECHCRUSADER8055 ohhh yeeahhh . Today I cleaned it with just a brush. And then it also booted successfully without any damage. Thx your video gave me confidence to do this thing.
When I released the metal cap of the battery cable it touched the motherboard and a little ignition came out is it fixable and how much will it cost me??
@@TECHCRUSADER8055 well one is that I can't connect the led busses back on, and i can't get 3 of the GPU screws open (need to remove the heat pipes to put some thermal paste) and the screws are stripped now so
I wont be touching the heat pipes because that might be a risky move if your not a professional, and there is a small clip on the led port where it looses the hole and when you insert the cable then you have to push that small clip downwards to tighten it
Yeah if you dont clean it and leave it as it is then chunks of dust can be found like small fur balls, that might also be the reason for that sound which you have mentioned, so cleaning it might stop that sound.
Yeah but it also depends on the area where you live and where you place the laptop. Because im in chennai, here lot dust can be travelled into your room , my laptop has to be cleaned every 3 months, if you are not in a city or in a place where not much big vehicles travel means then you can clean it as you mentioned ( 4-5 months) :)
