Dude, that was fucking AWESOME!!! That was your "8 Mile Lose Yourself Moment" and you nailed it!!!!! Memory for your whole life!!!!! Good job for having the BALLS to ask and also the skills to play it!!
I agree 1 MILLLION percent. Johhny is a BAD ASS CHILL COOL DUDE. INCREDIBLE musical ability, voice is so BEAUTIFUL, writing skills off the charts. Goo Goo Dolls should be the the R&R HOF in my fuckin opinion 😤
Jake, That was Awesome! You blew Johnny's mind - He was really worried about having the song messed up, but you blew him and the audience and all of us who watch you away! Thank you for the work you put into learning that song and really pushing to get on stage to do it! Teared me up watching you!🙂 🙏 ❤
Damn Jake was good at this shit. Johnny Reznick is so FUCKIN Cool. I love this video, what a moment. I've NEVER seen a band let a fan come up and play the lead guitar on a song of this magnitude. BEAUTIFUL moment. Way to go Jake. Love the GGD's. So AWESOME 🙂
Wow, you can see how nervous he was until Johnny started singing with him and putting the mic close enough so he could sing into it. That’s when he really started letting loose and enjoying the moment! So glad Jake was able to perform, would’ve done a much better job than I!
Jake, that was one of the coolest moments to see a fan ask to come on stage to play one of goo goo dolls most popular songs and nail it. Just to see the audience cheering for you gave me chills down my spine. It’s not everyday someone can get up on stage like that. Treasure it forever. Even though it’s from a while ago I was still cheering u on. Keep rocking man!!!!
It’s 2022...I’m not sure how this video was on my recommendation list but I’M SO GLAD IT WAS! Jake you were amazing! I love this video so much and is now on my favorite play list. Well done dude. Well done. 👏😘
What an opportunity of a lifetime! I have never seen this happen at a concert before. You did an outstanding job, Jake! Kudos to you for being brave enough to do this!
What an incredible memory for this guy. Lifetime memory. He did great obviously. I think a lot of people are missing how incredibly generous it was for John Rzreznik and the rest of the band to give him the spotlight. A strange fan in the stands. Just an incredible moment all around. This is why music exists.
strange, as in unorthodox, DEF not as in weird-- cause MOST decent musicians would absolutely LOVE to do this.. ** john happens to be a super grateful musician and has does this at least twice that I've seen! hopefully he does it for more cause im hoping he does it when i see them next time!!!!! heck,, im learning the song exactly for the possibility ow!
I have watched this video now a few times and i just love it sooooo sooooo much!!! Outstanding Jake!! You really held your own... impressive!! God Bless Always!!
That has got to be the dream (and maybe the nightmare) of many guitar player around - get on stage with your idol and play with them. Having had a look at Iris - I know John loves very non-standard tunings and most people modify the songs to play in something approaching standard. When he voiced concern that you might not be able to play his guitar - then you played a few chords and you could see his face change to awe. YOU NAILED IT. I had the most massive grin on my face through this whole video - my cheeks actually hurt.
If anybody was wondering what kind of a guy Johnny is, check him out at 2:59 reaching out to turn up the volume on his guitar so the crowd could hear Jake better. 100% class.
Awesome Jake! Great playing (and singing)! I agree with other comments that John. He seemed a bit nervous at first about how you'd play it, but gradually relaxed.
Just came across this and what a fab night that was for you. You did a brilliant job. Blew Johnny and the band and fans away! Loved it. Thanks for sharing👍❤️
That was awesome, it's one thing to play for Johnny to sing and it being only one instrument. But with the whole band and to have timing right, for the first time playing WITH the band. Truly a once in a life time moment.
Hey jake I just saw this video for the first time, your really good on guitar. I believe you will go far as a musician & this was so awesome of goo goo dolls 💯🤟
I worked so hard to learn that tuning and how to play that song hoping for a moment just like that! So fucking awesome you got that moment. Well done brother!!
Freakin Awesome dude! Great job, flawless! I bet that was surreal....like a dream come true! Love the Goo Goo Dolls...they are soooo cool, and just some good ole guys! 👍😎👍🎸
THAT WAS ONE OF THE COOLEST THINGS IVE EVER SEEN AT A CONCERT !!! I LOVE THE GOO GOO DOLLS ! Johnny & Robby and now Jake ! 😁🎉🙏🏻❤️Loved your guitar skillZ ! WOW ! How wonderful you got that experience ! I am so happy for YOU !!!! I smoked I laughed ! Thank You so much for posting this You Made my Day ! 🥰( even way after you posted ! 😁🙏🏻🎉)
GGD started off as a punk band in Buffalo, NY. Not a big fan base. I remember seeing their name spray painted under a bridge. Years later they had a hit song. Then another.......and another. It wasn't punk music but it was good. Great success story!!!
Seeing all the guys back him up in the corner was really beautiful to see, they were cheering him on. They gave it all up to him. They trusted him and he carried his weight. What an awesome moment. Let's carry our weights for everyone!
