It’s really sad because musically speaking, this year was really amazing, but all the other stuff that happened really overshadowed it

That’s really sad. Nemo is such a sweetheart( Apparently sometimes better to lose( And even though Nemo was one of my favorite and I really wanna protect them now, I don’t think hating back on other artist whose fans (probably) come after Nemo is acceptable. I do not hate anyone. And hope artists themselves (most of them at least) respect each other. Hope soon all that mess will be left behind

Eden/Israel came to compete in a song competition. Blame the protestors yelling outside and the ones booing her inside for giving ''a bad vibe''. Same goes for other contestant who put out a show like Greece in the press room (the Greek government denounced her behavior).

So you suggest that Aden Golan submit to terrorism and bullying and cry?? On the contrary, look and learn from her what professionalism and courage is. In addition, Israel did not bring any negative energy. On the other hand, the jealousy of the other contestants brought negative energy. All the contestants slandered Israel and brought an ugly atmosphere to the competition. Eden Golan only spoke nicely, and was professional.

I barely saw her interacting with anyone but press and her delegation. Only few artists was pretty open about not standing with Israel which is not good too. Others look like choose to be as far away as they could. Understandable. I did not care about her being there literally until the final and all that hate peaking. Obviously smiling and ignoring the only things that left for her. I might have missed it, but professionalism from her side for me would be not “smile and ignore”, but addressing hate and voicing that she not responsible for what is happening in her country. Obviously people and artists who loudly share their disgust towards her was more wrong, but it was so predictable and sorry that I did not enjoy it at all. Freaking Eurovision is one of few things that bring good vibe to my whole life and this year even that was so toxic from so many sides.

i dont know if you purposefully ignored the countless reports of israeli journalists and photographers who harassed and went after other artists in the contests, but im going to choose to believe you just didn't know. but it's true. the israeli broadcasting authority (the agency who brings eurovision to israel) who called bambie thug (the pagan ireland contestant) a "stain on israel" and actualy broke EBU rules and is being investigated for doing so. eden has openly talked about joining the IDF after eurovision, which is the military currently carrying out the genocide ON palestine. i don't know what israel was expecting, or what eden was expecting, but if she wanted to be "professional", then she shouldnt have come at all. her being in the competition was a safety concern for ALL of the other artists, who openly talked about how they felt this year's eurovision was so unsafe that they dont want to participate again unless the EBU reforms or israel isn't allowed to perform. no offence, but when you host eurovision in the same time as the palestinian protests in the most left wing city in western europe (malmö), and you are representing a country that is currently being tried for genocide by the UN, you CANNOT expect to be accepted with open arms. eden was either extremely naive, or knows and agrees with what her country is doing.

After 22 years of following the Eurovision, I was completely devastated and almost didn't even watch the finals. My mother didn't watch in protest either because they kicked out Joost, and she is from Serbia, she isn't even Dutch....xD so it tells a lot .... Also, Israel got points from their diaspora. If you check the countries that gave them 12 points they are all countries with a high Jewish population ...if you check comments online of who was defending the song, it's 99% of Jewish people.....the song is OKAY; but if it were any other country it would've been lower than top 15
@nathaliebazinga
@nathaliebazinga 4 месяца назад
To be honest, whatever happened with Joost, it was a civil dispute that he would've solved after the contest. EBU didn't have to disqualify him. He didn't beat anybody up. In such a harsh and fast-paced setting, it's bound to happen that emotions will run high and that at some point you'll cry, scream, laugh, get pissed off etc. I truly doubt that he was the first person to ever get into conflict with the stage crew ever in the history of Eurovision....So...let's call it what it is...he was disqualified over his disdain for Israel and then the crew set him up. Another thing to add was that more than 10 other countries complained about the horrific situation during the contest, with the most recent complaints being from Estonia. Even Teya Dora from Serbia commented on it in Serbian (she basically said "we all know what had happened but what can you do...")...

France, Autralia and UK are the only countries who count around or more than 100k jews, but sure. I voted for Israel 15 times and I'm not jewish. Agree with opinion about Israel song not being winner material. Beautiful, with touching lyrics especially with story behind and good vocals, but there was a lot of really good songs this year. About the Netherlands - really looks like overreaction and obviously no one benefits from that. Eurovision only lose. But again: I’m not making statements about something I don’t know. Can imagine the tension building not only on that week, but much earlier. Really sad outcome. But what’s done can’t be undone. Hopefully we will not see something like that again.

On all points: Joost: He probably did something significant and his behaviour in the press conference showed that he knew he is in trouble. There was an emergency conference including 10 reps of various member broadcaster and they all agreed for disqualification. Usually the EBU always finds solutions and gives a slap on the wrist so something big had to happen. Israel: Israel didn't break any rules so it should compete. Toxic people are not the ones to decide who should compete. Israel's points: The Jewish diaspora in most European countries is insignificant. It's significant only in France, Belgium and the UK. It's caused more by the fact that Israel got injected to the culture war will all the protests many of which are ugly. For example, recently the German pro-Palestine protesters started carrying signs demanding turning Germany into a Caliphate. The public won't stand for that. Nemo: I personally didn't like it that much but it's not the point. The point is that the jury didn't just give him first place but said it's the best act in a decade which is not so. He got the highest jury points per jury then any act since the current system. Looks very very fishy and Marko should be the winner (I personally voted for Ukraine in the televote, I like that style).

We're from Canada, we're not Jewish and have no ties to Israel. We follow Eurovision every year but this was the first time we voted, and we threw half of our votes to Israel. First, we genuinely thought she deserved it. Not everyone will agree, but we loved the song and thought Edan Golan was amazing. We wouldn't have voted for her otherwise. Secondly, all of the controversy and the hate we felt was completely undeserved, so we were happy to throw "spite" votes towards those who wanted to see Israel thrown out. Anyone, Israeli or not, who felt that the hate was undeserved and were annoyed by the protests and the inappropriate behaviour from the other contestants etc. may have done as we did and given her votes to show support. For some people, in light of all the "Free Palestine" protests happening in our cities and our University campuses in countries like Australia, France, UK etc,, voting for Israel may have even been a way to say "Enough of this!" Because many people are not that invested in current affairs but the protests are "forcing" it on us in our day to day lives. Highways and airports are being blockaded, preventing people from travelling and getting to work. Graduation ceremonies are being cancelled. Few people have patience for this stuff. And there is also a huge surge of antisemitism happening around the world, and votes for Israel could have been a way to show support even from non-jews/Israelis. All of the above factored in to how we voted. So in our humble opinion, the notion that Israel should have voluntarily abstained is victim blaming. None the less, I'm really glad your video showed up in my recommendations and really enjoyed it even if I'm happy to "agree to disagree" about one particular opinion.

Honestly I thought it was pretty good. And I think Switzerland really deserved the first place. It wasn't my choice, but I was 100% sure it was going to win since I think they had actually the best song. I chose Armenia, not really because music was better, it was really not, but because it was just kind of style I'm currently into. I got total lols from Ireland and my mom complaining about satanism stuff :D On Israel, my position honestly has always been pretty neutral. Not that what that situation isn't horrible, but because the situation is pretty complicated, I have read quite a bit about the issue recently and honestly didn't make me change my mind. Ultimately, if Hamas disbands/gets wiped out, Israel chills current actions and stops expanding settlements and I would be happy. I was felt kinda bad for all the boos in their face. But at the same time I was kinda surprised about all the votes they got. After all, sentiment isn't really for them.

Most baffling part for me in all of this is that meanwhile Eurovision took place, Israelis had alerts going on constantly throughout it to find shelters since hamS sent rockets from Gaza.. you barely hear coverage about it because this conflict did got one sided coverage so far and these Eurovision contestants who come from places with mere issues compare to the Middle East region, really need to grow up, it’s one thing to stand for something and it’s another to act the way they did that makes ppl get annoyed with them and just want to support Eden. Especially for ppl who understand the conflict, this is not some 10 seconds shorts that being pushed by an algorithm situation you know, it’s called a conflict for a reason and I will leave this comment lastly saying that the Palestinians are far from innocent at all, and if they haven’t rejected every peace offer we would be in an entirely different situation. As far as it comes to who is actually the indigenous ppl, than Judaism was there 3000 years ago before Islam was ever created. For anyone who read about the Middle East conflict, this year with Eurovision and the news on the conflict feels like everyone lost their minds.

This year eurovision was worst ever. Politics, corruption (which is standard) this year hit max. First Netherlands disqualification which was totally unfair. Then you have satan rituals from Ireland, Switzerland which had 22 juries give 12 points as they were ordered to do so. Israel coudnt win because politics and situation in Gaza and they wanted someone "neutral" that been Switzerland, EBR is from Swiss, how strange. Baby Lasagna who was the favorite of the public and should win was robbed of victory. You can see from Pluto that he is robbed. Nemo is very talented but he didn't deserve to win. I guess promting sotonism, naked people, LGBT community is what is eurovision all about. It was suppose to be "family" show. I guess that was lost over the years. Sry Sasha but your top songs are wrong. Eurovision 2024 had only one winner and that is Baby Lasagna! As i always said there can be wars in the world, but that should not interfere with Eurovision, there should not be politics there, and yet there is. You should watch how Baby Lasgana was welcomed back to Croatia, like a true winner he is.

Imagine saying someone that their top is wrong) It still songs that I included in my playlist and really enjoy cause art is subjective. And with all respect I do not think Israel song really was capable to win even on peaceful year. And all hate around actually kept some attention on them which is good for promoting. Even in this comment section people admit voting for Israel feeling injustice towards her. Saw a lot of that in inst as well. Croatia was crazy loved by fans and media and I expected them to win while voting for Switzerland. Cause I really do not mind not my favorites winning. I just wanna enjoy music. And on my opinion there were a few countries (Croatia included) deserving (and capable) to win. Marko should be proud cause he’s second with pretty small difference. And btw why anyone would plot against Croatia? Especially if their win can bring back some other Balkan countries. Croatia was most safe winner if anyone wanted to play the results. Poor Nemo now thrown under the bus. But I explained my point of view about jury, their points made sense to me. Tele-vote too. Unless you have real proofs. And point about EBU being originally Swiss irrelevant too. No one saw problem while they was losing last 35 years. They should not compete then? And I did believe in “there should be no politics in art/sport etc”. But recently I finally faced that it sadly can’t be archived. Politics is literally in everything, it influence our views. Being inside of one war I really care about peoples side in it before supporting them. There is nothing not-political for me anymore. Just when there is no big conflicts people not see politic affects, but it is still do.

Baby Lasagna won the hearts of Europe and world and he was only one winner (possibly French to). Ireland's satanism stuff was pretty fun ;D Nemo was definitely the best best song. On other hand what made me totally baffled is France. It was nice song but utterly basic love ballad/song, just very forgettable. Personally I voted for Armenia because I'm quite into stuff like Celtic and all kinds of "fantasy" like music. I knew Swiss would win though. I'm pretty neutral on Israel politically, I'm from west so I think Israel should come out of this conflict as intact strong nation, but at the same time I just think they are getting what they deserve. Ultimately they are not looking for solutions, they are pressing their advantage and slowly taking more territory. On other hand Hamas is much worse, but they don't have nearly as much capacity for violence or control over the region. As for their song, it was like France, pretty forgettable, though France was maybe bit better in that category. And I just have to point out that politics has always been a thing in Eurovision. It was literally formed as kind of political event to a degree and political votes have always been a thing.

A small comment about the Dutch representative. I didn't get the impression that this was some international star. They say Shitzu dogs see the reflection of a lion in the mirror.
