I think its good for the Fire nation is fucking up its own Fire Nation People Directly type of thing? specific physical suffering. and the costume is cool. other then that it could have been cut significantly or tied with something else for fun, possible something like forced conscription issues. although end of the war is at hand so not the most realistic. perhaps Draft Dogers? or something.

I too resented this episode after waiting a week for it. As much as Matt did not want to be on this one, I am glad he was. I do think Katara dressing up as the painted lady might be a bit of a parallel to Zuko's blue spirit. With them having their inverted colors and with the Gaang now operating in enemy territory like Zuko used too, only they are acting altruistically. Still not crazy deep stuff. I feel like maybe there had been plans for the painted lady thing to be more of a multi-episode thing at one point. A few things in season 3 kinda start and stop.

This episode is perfectly meh. The main think I liked is the Painted Lady spirit being real and this is team Avatar's version of the Blue Spirit. But oh boy coming up is Sokka's Master which is one of my favorites for the introduction of Piandao, and it being a Sokka episode that balances comedy and dramatic tension.

its interesting for the whole spirit stuff. not sure I like the eco terrorist go against industrialization bit, but considering these fucks can light things on fire with no fuel youd think they would handle this better. more focus on the even the Fire Nation is suffering for the stupid Fire Nation war machine is fun which is very important cause if its just the rest of the world suffered but the Fire nation is doing fine actually, better then great that be BAD. Kattara's costume was alot of fun, I like the design.
