Michael Borneman does the gearing option on the screen work 100% of the time with the fanalab update? Normally it shows like 20/ 40% of the time your in neutral during races. (Like this vid shows) And you’re saying that all 5 itm pages are working. I’m curious, are al options on the 5 pages working for a 100% also? Because before you only could choose 5 itm pages on the base itself, but in total not even 20% of them where functional. Also, using itm on the DD base caused disconnection of wheels, incl the porsche wheel, and malfunction of functions on all wheels at random. So yes, i’m curious. Thanks in advance. The Netherlands ✌🏼😋🚦🏁
@@yrtracingteam106 yes, all 5 are working for me. I had to update the firmware for the podium hud, button box and motor (DD1) before everything worked itself out. Boosted Media has a video showing it working.
Bought this rim not to long ago, set me back over $1100 AUD. Definitely not buying a new one for a while. The quality overwhelmed me, you can clearly see where your hard earned cash went to. The extremely level of detail and build quality is amazing and i would highly recommend this rim if your budget allows you.
"Glass fibre reinforced plastic" is actually pretty much the industry standard way of saying injection molded plastic reinforced with glass fibre, so just small pieces of glass mixed into the plastic. Really good material choice imo, if correctly designed it can be stronger than aluminium.
@chris haye , could you detail please how you got the telemetry to work ? I have mine maybe 6 weeks now and still don’t have the sectioned screen as you have, just gears and speedo replacing each other. Thanks Ed
PLEASE NOTE: While the Podium Hub is fully supported by our CSL and ClubSport wheel bases, the Podium Button Module Endurance is currently only compatible with the Podium Series direct drive systems. Compatibility to other Fanatec wheel bases will be added in future firmware updates. (from fanatecs webpage)
@@ChrisHaye Very heartbreaking. Although there is a button to change base modes between ps4 and PC it is a good idea to have a magical unknown combination on the wheel itself that changes modes too :P. Still had a ton of fun though and at least I got past before it happened lol.
I would be prepared to be underwhelmed by Fanatec's Black Friday specials this year. It seems they can't keep up with demand at full prices, so that does not leave much incentive for discounting. I reckon maybe they'll discount some lower end bundles, like a cheaper shifter if you buy a CSL wheelbase and pedals. That's an upsell for them that might convince people to spend a bit more.
I bought the Alcantara one a month ago and its been my "go to" wheel for GT3 type cars... was it worth getting into debt for?.. absolutely!!. Might be worth mentioning to people that the Podium Button module is only compatible with a DD1 or DD2, (although I think the new Fanatec beta drivers allow it to work on the CSW v2.5) but CSL elite owners look away!
Yeah, much of what I said in the video about the telemetry compatibility is already out of date due to a new update. Quality timing on my part as ever! :D
By the way with driver 373 and FanaLab 1.47 on the forum the installation is now as straight forward was with any other wheel and all 5 ITM pages are available. The driver update is currently released as beta and will go onto the website when tested positive.
Great video. I wish they would make more VR focused wheels so as to avoid additional and unwanted costs like on wheel displays which might as well be in braille for how useful they currently are.
Yes this 320mm Porsche wheel is probably the best feeling wheel I ever used just feels absolutely perfect, when I’m not using my CSX2 it’s my go to GT rim.
@@kezman82a well mine is currently back with cube controls with a RMA on a broken button, there all led and the plastic just cracked so had to send it back for repair, the inside rotaries where the thumbs are turn too easy so knock them while driving so can’t use them sadly, it’s almost a perfect wheel just not 100% 👀
Wait. So. i watched all this thinking there was some possibility of getting this in the future. It being im a console player. Got to @13:00 and saw it's not the case, for me. Sad times. 😔 although its never a waste of time watching a Chris Haye video. Always 100% effort 👌🏻 into making the highest quality videos. Keep it going Chris.
@@maxversthappening8166 Yes, for the price it does it job, G29 here and the only thing i really dread is the rattling sound that gear driven sound drives me nuts but for the time being it does what´s suppose to do.
@@kurok1tenshi oh yeah, I kinda forgot about that. That is a big problem with the gears. But as you said it does what its supposed to do for the price.
Hi Chris, is there any wobbeling when changing from formula wheel to gt3 wheel ? Can we switch from another easily, when in game I want to change from formula to gt3 car ? Without changing any software or anything ? I’m very working about that before buying . Thanks
Great video. If you have the new Fanatec DD Pro, I would be very interested in an update video on how this wheel performs on that base with GT 7, button mapping etc, I like official except for it's size, it's a little small and I don't like the grip feel. I'm looking at the leather version you have here, but as I'm limited to PS5 I wondered how the button box works in GT 7
Have you tried drifting with it? If this was the wheel that came with the PS4 Podium package I'd probably have already bought it by now (provided it does drifting decently well, some have expressed concern about the flat bottom)
Hé Chris, thank you for the video! 👍🏼 Want to ask you about the buttons which come with module. Have to say i didn’t find them. Only the stickers. But already two buttons are split in half. One of them i didn’t use more then maybe 10 times and the other one a bit more. The wheel is less then 3 months old. It isn’t a big problem but i was surprised when you said it came with buttons. Especially since they are different shaped than te regular onces. Thanks again.
Hi Chris, thanks for the video as looking into one for myself. I have a couple of questions you might be able to answer. 1. What is the overall length with the wheel fitted 2. Any news from them if it will be available with another wheel, don’t really need an F1 wheel. Great channel! Steve
Interesting that you mention the slightly thinner rim (as in your grip, not the 320mm diameter). It feels perfect when you have proper gloves on, which makes sense as that’s what the original wheel would have been designed for.
I own this will and the Fanatec F1 will also. If you have small hands and/or skinny fingers, the rims are very good. I have been racing with min for about a year and a half. The problem with them for me has to do with where my thumbs sit when I am driving. The knuckles of my thumbs sit right where Chris Hayes' thumbs are sitting. This has cause large calluses on both sides of the first knuckle. This is very painful and I can no longer use the rims. I am now looking to purchase some more comfortable wheels/wheel rims. I just thought I would add this feedback so anyone seeing this review would know to really think about this purchase before pulling the trigger, or testing out the wheel to make sure they want to keep it before passing the return window. Other than this issue, the will with button box and podium shifters is outstanding. I hope these comments help some one out.
Just out of curiosity, did you get the leather or suede version? I know this has nothing to do with the discomfort you are describing, but I am curious how you liked the material you chose
@Chris Haye Do you have the DD1 podium (ps4 edition)? is it any different to the normal DD1 apart from be compatible with PS4? Lastly with the DD1 do you need the podium HUB and what does it actually do? and whats it used for? Thanks
Always such nice video production on your videos, nice shots and editing. Thanks also for your insights! #QUALITY but too expensive, time for saving now... Using the f1 styled (clubsport carbon v2) now for acc, I find it works fine there, but I can see an appeal for this... I would ditch the porsche logo though tbh... would make it less expensive ;-)... just print fanatec on there and I would be happy as well
Have big Issues with Fanatec support . A lot of “is not my problem” and “that is what happens when you are In Brazil” and then i complain about my dead upshift on the Facebook page and got banned
Nice Review Would agree with most of what you described but would also add imo the buttons are cheap from a premium flagship item, software driver install is a nightmare especially if your wanting to run podium and csl elite or clubsport wheel on same pc. cost is inline with other brands the offer similar if not better quality buttons. overall for a $1000.00AUD product i felt this to be an overpriced cheap mass produced item which required some knowledge so not for the plug and play type of person who wants something to work out of the box. I would also add Fanatec support whilst slow is i believe is extremely good but is either hit and miss depending of the persons knowledge dealing with your potential problem.
I'm sorry for being "that guy", but the mispronunciation of "Fanatec" has always driven me nuts. It's pronounced like the word "fanatic": not "fan-a-tek".
