The first Santa Monica 4th of July Parade stepped off in 2007 and the Church in Ocean Park was there with our Fancy Dress Swim Against Malaria. We’ve been there ever since marching in our fancy attire and continuing into the ocean at the end of the parade route to raise funds to buy long-lasting bed-nets protecting children, mothers, and others from malaria.
Our exuberance has at this point inspired sister Fancy Dress Swims in Hawaii and Vancouver, Canada, and a Mothers Day Fancy Dress Swim at the Oceanside Pier in San Diego County. Our newest Swim is based in Oakland, CA, started by one of our most enthusiast swimmers, Kaitie Warren.
This is one of the most joyful and fun ways of fundraising we do. Join us any or every 4th of July!
