I like the starter kits. They are great for tinkering and for learning about how everything works.

@@notenoughtech I agree there. When I first started with "smart home" stuff I have no idea what I really was aiming for. Initially I thought it was too expensive to do it, so never planned, then when I found the more DIY way I kind of jumped in the deep end and still didn't plan

I spread myself too thin at times then have to table projects until I'm able to complete it. When going back to a project that was tabled for a long time there is lot of time wasted of figuring out where I left it and what I was going to do next which is never the case if you see it through

Thanks for the video Mat. Nice to see the multi purpose screw driver in use. Manual/electrical screw driver and now a pointer device. :O) keep safe and stay well.

@@notenoughtech Will do. No project in mind at the mo. I use Home Assistant so always wanted to tinker with arduinos and esps. As I'm learning I'm sure I'll come up with some projects

Definitely pick something and follow through. It will present unique challenges and reward you with a thing you get to enjoy. Playing with breadboard is nice but also feels temporary and is not as rewarding at the end ;)

@@notenoughtech definitely will, it's been on my list of hobbies I've wanted to do for a long time. Already have a soldering iron in prep for this day! hopefully won't be on the breadboards for to long.

Hi Mat and keep on the good work. I started with just Sonoffs and an Echo about a year ago, after a friend's suggestion. Soon went to Home Assistant (with Haaska to expose devices to Echoes) and Tasmota. Now I use mostly D1 mini's, started soldering and playing around with WLED making sensors and led light projects. And little while ago I started learning Arduino...

Awesome to hear. D1 minis are pretty cool. I also have esp8266-01 as they have small form factor and just enough pins for a simple project
