Baker had smashed the child's head in. She was already dead, when he had dismembered her body. The body only bleeds profusely, when alive. After death, you can cut into the body, and it will bleed very little. That's why Baker was not drenched in blood. RIP Fanny Adams. You were a friendly and good little girl. You died as you lived Loved by everyone.
"Before his death he wrote a letter to fannys parents begging for forgiveness" You literally tore her apart mate I don't think forgiveness is gonna happen overnight
She was obviously a pretty intelligent child, choosing to take the money but not to go with him. Too bad he was bigger than her, and she had no chance against him. Bless her soul.
Very good short documentary i read about this crime about 10 years ago and hadnt realised Fanny Adams was a real person. Not many people do know this infact. I think it would be a fitting tribute to her if they made a film or play about her and then she would be remembered correctly and not by some old sailors folklore sayings. I always thought this was a strange crime as the condemmed man never seemed to fit this crime and the two knives he was found with were very small and seemed unlikely to be able to dismember a body. Also with this kind of dismemberment he would have been covered in blood and not just spots. That sort of murder would have been done in a frenzy yet he spoke to the childs mother soon after and was totally calm.Wouldnt he have gone an hid. There is a lot about this case that just did not add up.
fanny adams was the 4th of 7 children born to george and harriet adams.her ghost is said to haunt the fields, doctors surgery/now a pub called the olde leathern bottle and cemetary.
The pub nearby Ye ole Leathern Bottle is said to be haunted , a mate of mine whom is doing some refurb work on this old inn, was telling me that was the building tha the body oft Fanny Adams was sewn back together.
Having researched it, I discovered this week, that the murderer Frederick Baker was my 1st Cousin 5 times removed. Fanny also appears in my tree, though is not a blood relative. Three of her siblings, and one of her aunts "marry in" to my extended family.
The "Old Market Inn" at 35 seconds isn't in Alton, not sure why thats in the video + That pic has been proven not to be fanny adams - Her grave is in the cemetery opposite Amery Hill School, few mins walk from my house
How come the ladies who originally went looking for Fanny and bumped into Baker did not notice any blood or evidence of the carnage? If the mutilation was as horrific as described then Baker would have been covered in blood. How come the ladies did not notice he was acting strangely? They would have been most suspicious as he was the very person that they were looking for. Baker was a young Clerk, he lived with his parents and his vocation suggests he was reasonably intelligent. Not intelligent enough to dispose of the two knives that committed the murder in one of the many ponds or lakes in the area in the many hours between the murder and him being arrested. On arrest he protested vigorously, insisting of his innocence. Any subsequent letter to Fanny's family could easily have been forged. I smell a rat.
me too a little. Unless he was just so arrogane that he assumes he respected enough to not be suspected. Astounding he wrote in his diary..however he did actively separate fanny from the other 2 girls and was calm throughout accusation alledgedly. If u r wrongly accused then most are freaking heck out.
Yeah weird an eye witness saw him covered with blood so he must have cleaned himself up. I found it more weird they beloved him though and the young girls didn’t raise the alarm sooner
@@celtictarotreadings333 They did. This narrative is a bit wrong according to what I have read. He bribed the girls with money to leave they didnt want to and that's when he took off with fanny. The girls immediately ran to Martha which was the friends mom but she ignored them and thought the girls were being foolish and because they weren't taken seriously the girls didn't take it as serious. Later Fannys sister went home and Thats when their mother heard the news and the story continues. He also was not drinking like this story says. He tried to use insanity and alcohol as a defense and family history showed he wasn't insane and witnesses who saw him after what he did said he wasn't drinking. But it is also a century + old crime so stories can come across different. This is just what I learned in my research.
