It's been 22 years since Selena Quintanilla sang her last song, but super fans from across California made sure her legacy lives on during the unveiling ceremony for her Hollywood Walk of Fame star Friday.
Watching this made me so proud as a Mexican American woman from San Antonio, I was fortunate to perform on the same stages here locally. Selena has been my mentor for 25yrs. I got the chance to be apart of Axiom productions for the movie Selena as a roses vendor in Alamo scene,ate dinner with Director Nava in front of me & the cast. She deserved this Star 22yrs ago, now I have my own little Selena who was born on April 16th Selena's birthday named Symphony..Selena your my inspiration & you have your biggest Star already in Heaven, we just wanted one down here for you⚘⚘⚘
Selena is loved by people of all walks of life! There was something special about her that made her different Selena was a true sweetheart still miss Selena. 💔💔💔💔
Greatest artist in history! Selena had a combination of talent, charisma and class that was, and will always remain, incomparable. She was one of the finest people to ever walk the earth, and I can't imagine my life without her music in it, or the world without the positivity and inspiration she brought to it. She is enshrined in the hearts of millions, and in that sense, she will live on as a part of all who love her forever - our friend, our queen, our Angel of Music.
James Burdzinski She broke the record for attendance at a star ceremony - 4,500 people. The biggest crowd before that was 4,000 for a ceremony in 1998. And, it was a rare evening ceremony, which is considered a big honor. The last evening ceremony was for a Beatle, which shows you how loved and respected Selena is. It was about the last major honor she had yet to recieve, and even though it should have happened long ago, I'm stoked! So proud of her!
Sarah Stewart I was thinking the same thing. I watched it, of course, and even though I read online that the number was supposedly 4,500, it DID seem like many more to me. I don't know how they arrived at that number, but I think it was far below the number of people who actually attended. Just the sound of the crowd alone was crazy!
