The thing is, they didn't just change Eve's outfits, they also removed a significant amount of blood and monster gore from the game from what I understand as well. Even if that weren't true, this is still exactly the kind of Lieberman/Thompson-esque attitude which led to the call for censorship of games in the past. The only reason that the current push for game censorship has by-and-large failed on the consumer front is because people were primed to dislike it by the previous wave of more successful censorship. It unfortunately has succeeded on the industry side at least for now, with BlackRock and co. willing to hemorrhage money (up until recently anyways) to support failed investments so long as those investments forced a radical left wing agenda onto disinterested consumers. This side of the media warfare has turned against those people as well recently but the negative effects will be a long time in abating, frankly because we as customers cannot vet and gatekeep groups like SBI and the many others like them until they make themselves more well known. As we've recently seen, they react quite badly, up to and including levying threats of violence against those who call their existence to attention, obviating their desire to remain covert. It makes it quite hard for consumers to know which products have been contaminated by them and which haven't, because most consumers don't have the time or energy to spend hours hunting through every small company tangentially connected to all the stuff that they buy.

the game was censored. the original version probably intended to show a whole lot more skin. some of the outfits the quick little tidbits the show in older trailers. she has like nothing on.

A game company that makes a game that sells based off sex appeal and combat, and then censors the sex appeal, isn't trying to generate "controversy to sell more games." That would only have been the case if they did that briefly, then undid it right away with an apology and promise not to censor it again. That would generate the attention you're talking about. But they missed that window. So your take on it is simply mistaken.

Problem was they said it would ship uncensored, it was part of their marketing campaign, so it is misleading at best.

I think it has more to do with the hard R thing. Like there’s no way some random Korean developers knew it’s a racially charged word. They were two separate image files or 3D assets near each other. Completely unrelated. So ya and then they patched it a bit for the wardrobe. Just to make Sony happy. I don’t think it’s to drive controversy. If it was, that’s 3D chess right there. More likely these guys didn’t wanna make a racial issue and tried to soothe things over with Sony too. Driving sales of the PC version tho, that’s believable. $5 cosmetics bundles here we come lol

If you bought the game because of the sex appeal and not you know… gameplay, you got rightfully scammed. Companies know sex sells and you fell for it.
