In the 70's my parents got a 60ft. antenna tower. I was able to pull in stations from 100 mi. away. I was able to watch TOS 3 times a day on week days and 5 times on weekends.
I watched Star Trek in 1966 at 16 years old. I am surprised there weren’t more problems. George Lucas created a gold rush in science fiction that brought Star Trek back.
Franchize shmanchize, Star Trek has become a mythic universal legend as much a public property now as Arthurian stories or the tales that Homer recorded from ancient Greek oral history. The fact that fans have contributed so much, for good or ill, to the Star Trek universe is proof that it truly is a gem of the culture. It will long outlast all the copyright issues. So sorry to hear about Janice Rand....there have been series and films she could be resurrected in. Maybe a job for fan fiction at least.
The Star Trek series in all was the best collective effort at future visualisation of humanity among the stars. Star Trek was a blessing to Television audiences. P.S Spock was never seen by myself as a satanic figure but a bright spot on a being with no emotions finding freindship and himself among his shared blood cousins humanity.
In the early 1970s I would rush from work to see the original series Monday through Friday. I really never like the spinoffs as much as the original 3 year series. I got tired of the spinoffs to the point that didn't even watched them at all.
I absolutely agree and would love to see it shared and shown on the TVs in the upcoming season daily! My three year old loves Spock! Their messages are always given to your interpretation! A great shoe and shm on the mgt cancelling an amazing story lines! Let us bring it back! The original series specifically!
I knew about some of these, but not all. It would be neat to find a way to bring Kirk back. Maybe someone put his body on the Genesis planet? Like Spock before.
I never took to watching the original, nor any "Star Trek" iteration. So, this video was way too deep and meaningless for me. I mean, going through every "zig and zag" about the show's wardrobe and ultimately possible copyright infringements was just time spent I'll never get back.
The Mendusan Ambassador., The Etavacron,,, Shore leave , Tribbles , Charlie X .. 'Where no man has gone before' ..........were some of my favourite episodes and the Talos IV planet one The lead alien in that pair of episodes was actually an actress playing a male , not that the flowing silvery garment gave real gender clues ..There were silly race preaching stories scattered among them.such as the black on one side of their body and whitish on the other half fighting over who was superior.... The Mudd character was one I found tediously silly... Two stories that I switched off for not enough drama just jokery.. Not much scientific common sense used either. in certain episodes. That scuttling, tunnel boring creature would have needed a constant supply of liquid to dissolve the rock and the fumes would have been noticed by their choking stench. Artistic licence must be allowed of course , or aliens would never speak such flawless English .Whoever designed the Enterprise was never a mechanic or engineer That thing would never work with the power pods attached at right angles like that. Ludicrous design
Maybe, just maybe, Janice Rand was lying. She didn't name the Executive she accused, there were no legal proceedings, in fact there was nothing apart from her saying that it occurred. Perhaps she wanted to retire early with a Starfleet pension that she didn't deserve. She had Feminist eyes but forgot that, in Starfleet, you have no need for money 😉😎
