I got my 2.0 in yesterday. I immediately ordered another. Perceptor was never my favorite character but I loved the design. This figure is my favorite piece in my collection. I’ve spent maybe 3 hours just posing and trying on all the different heads. This is an MP I’m actually having fun with. I haven’t felt this good about a purchase in a long time. I really hope I’m not coming off as stanning for FT, but I can’t express how good this figure really is. 10/10
This release looks absolutely stunning, but the colour (both shade and metallic finish) just doesn't do it for me. I'm a sucker for the cartoon look, and the finish used for this release doesn't match my expectations unfortunately. I think I'm going to pass on this character for now, or maybe grab the XTB release when timing is right.
Thanks for review… both the XTB and FT are great figures. Glad there are some significant differences. I don’t need two preceptors but I thought It was one of XTB’s better showings (never transformed him so maybe that’s why) Was wondering how come you’re not a huge fan of KFC blaster. I think he still holds up well, especially metallic version. Hard mold to really mess up.
I'm on the fence for this one I like the blue xtb used but the red fanstoys used, I like the head sculpt for xtb and the chest for fanstoys 🙄 can I fuse them somehow xD
I felt the same about the paint, until he put them side by side, on camera, even though it isnt super shiny and sleek like the FT, i ended up liking the red more because of how vibrant and bright it is. I already have the xtb in a stack waiting to be shipped and i feel i made the right choice for my collection
@@MWRogers can't agree, they have the room to make the shoulders thicker, they could of done another layer and have the shoulders of that layer , then all they needed was a hinge for the shoulders . Sorry Kinda hard to explain my vision.
@@scrambledcitycustomz8134 no need to apologize. I get what you're saying..but then why not just go with the XTB that has a small butterfly joint? The conscience is that in both transformations, the arms accordion into the body...different ways, and you've seen that type of breakage when reverting back to bot mode...now granted, some of those XTB breaks in the shoulder come from, IMHO, not following instructions and manhandling the crap out of it....getting the arms out of Janseen is a very finicky thing that I experienced.
@@MWRogers well im looking at it if im design it, and thinking what i would of done differently, also i already have it, if i had xtb i would be criticizing for some else🤣, we just have to put pressure on Ft so they can give us more articulation
@@johnnymarbles6130 like a lot of Fanstoys you probably gotta lay hands on it to see where the value is …. The build quality is where it’s at… but not worth it to me
I'm with you. I paid close to $200 for a couple of big ones like Galvatron, but I don't wanna pay that much for a not particularly spectacular character like Perceptor. $140 would be okay.
looks nice as fans toys usually do but since I have a great fully functional Jansen I will not get this unless Jansen breaks but Xtransbots face I like better and guys its not a tank mode its a mobile artillery not to be anal about it.
@@zit11owner lol those legs. But it seems like alot of people are getting along fine with it except some tabs breaking off. So I assume Jensen is ok if you are careful with it.
Xtb is more cartoon accurate. Apart from his head I think is a touch too small. Fanstoys is more comic like. Xtb alt modes are rubbish Xtb transformation is ok Fanstoys alt modes are the best Fanstoys transformation is brilliant.
@@TMReviews I perfectly understand what you mean. As for Tesla 2.0 and after checking several reviews, you did the best transformation especially with those tricky legs and risk of paint chipping (my nightmare lol). I must check Tman though ;)
My only minor complaint is that metallic paint color. I was never a fan of metallic paint. I miss the muted colored plastic from the early days. I'm still getting him since my collection is missing an Mp Perceptor.
Great looking figure. Cartoon accuracy isn't as on point as Janssen with the proportions and coloring, but it's a nicely built, painted and sturdy figure nonetheless. You like FT figures, you know what to expect with this one. I like the transformation on it too, it looks very well thought out for the most part. I think if FT retained the heroic proportions for Tesla 2.0 and Janssen represented the chunky, stocky looking body proportions of the animation. Not perfect, but definitely reminiscent of the character in my head. The bigger chest, shoulders and forearms definitely work better imo, I also thought the blues were more of an aqua/teal color for Janssen but they're not too far off from FT.
I find a lot of issues with this figures design compared to XTB.. the complaints about tolerance is clear...and I find, bases on transformation of Janssen and what I've seen with this figure...until I have mine in hand, is that the complexity and chance of breakage in the shoulders about the same. We'll see when I have mine... Looks goto Janssen
Received my copy from Terry this week. Really like the paint and the articulation. Transformation to microscope wasn’t to challenging thanks to your video, the main difficulty was tight tolerances due to paint, not necessarily a bad thing. To avoid any paint scrap page on the leg it must be completely straight when rotating the red shin panels. Not interested in tank mode so not going to even try to transform him into that mode. Now looking forward to Chomp completing my deception headmasters. I hope they release a few more decepticon characters as we need a few more to balance out the releases.
Another superb looking bot from FansToys, their finish is truly top notch! He’s not a character I have much affinity with mind you, so I may not bother getting him - but by god he looks good Another great review as always
I've received the invoice for my preorder. The figure looks cool, but I don't really wanna pay $190 for a character that I'm only buying to fill a space in my Fans Toys '86 Movie collection. Trying to decide if I should pony up or forfeit my deposit. Scourge is the one I really want, but it sold out immediately.
Figure just seems off to me. Colours are not my preference and a little to tall for my taste. Love XTB and FT, still seems like FT is getting more love just because the fact it is FT. Just because some figures have more diecast doesnt make them better
I like FT better because the legs actually transform and aren't an afterthought like XTB. Also the G1 art in the video is fatter than the way Preceptor looks in the show. FansToys is an overrated company but they just win with this one. The color is the only flaw.
Looks great. Great colours, diecast is always a plus and articulation! Winner all round. It'll always lose on price though, but FT models can carry that burden.
For sure, every time when we watch an FT review, we see the anti-FT people and XTB supporters come to blah blah blah. I just want to say:” please enjoy your own toys, just like others gonna enjoy theirs, none of us should be worry too much about others’ toys, they are not yours, not happening in your lives.” 😂
@@pandamant666 I would be hard to find an "anti-FT" collector in this community. I find people who are critical of FT and other companies...and I also find reviewers like TM and others that I watch to be very fair in balanacing their subjectivity with their objectivity.
Great Review buddy...Great Releases by Both Companies and its a tight match-up as well. Excluding Price, I believe FTs edges out XTB just in Hardware and Engineering...add Metalic Paint and no Comparison. Reflect the Price and XTB has a Winner...Not FT Winning style but a Winner Nontheless.
I like your reviews and your channel Sony but i don't like how whenever a FT figure has a shortcoming you say it's ok, but if the figure was made by another brand you point it out as a problem or even compare it to the same figure made by FT if they did it better. Idk, maybe that's a way to keep your fanbase happy or maybe that's just you saying what you wanna say on your channel.
Like the big butt flap? I’ve noticed the same from several others that do reviews. Sony does point out that this is only his opinion so people should take it as that.
I said the issue was tight joints on this figure, but in my opinion it doesn't cause a problem beucsee it's not breaking or preventing transformation. It's just something to be careful of for your own hand safety
@@ultrajazz5335 the butt flap was one. No waist rotation unless you hide the red notch is another, and the way that middle piece pops out of place to have ab crunch. Yeah they're small things that don't take away from how good the figure is, but like I said if it wasn't a FT figure those little details would've been marked as poor design.
Good review but am happy with x-transbots janssen he wins in accurate toon colors , accurate G1 toon especially in alt-mode , Accessories and the PRICE!!!!!! but I have pre-order fanstoys jazz he's a must have
BUTT(flap)! The toy was turquoise. His animation model was never that color. Whoever colored those Sunbow panels, did the wrong color. He looks amazing! I noticed with Frenzy-Firrib, the paint when it catches the flash, turns purple. So their paint choice probably does something similar, to reflect a movie color version? Big boys, need big..Action Figures! Thanks for the review!
For me Tesla V2 is my most anticipated figure of the year followed by Chomp, and he hasn’t disappointed. Janssen definitely has a colour pallet that is more toon accurate but I just love the apple cherry red metallic of Tesla it just pops. Although the clear plastic chest piece shows of some sculpted detail I really like the painted chest piece so I’ll likely display him with that. Some of the face sculpts are weird and unnecessary just to compete with Janssen, fair enough it gives more options and an IDW look nine different sculpts is a little overkill for me. I think this could be a contender for figure of the year, with FT back to their best with this figure. I look forward to the comparison. I think tesla vs Janssen comparison would be close IMO if Janssen had better QC but for me I’m expecting FT to come out on top. Looking forward to getting my copy from Terry towards the end of February, damn Chinese New Year, just kidding. Happy New Year.
@@TMReviews been pretty busy with my parents and my job. I got 7 more years before retirement. I got kids graduating highschool and grandchildren. I promise I'll try and make more time to stay current with everyone I follow.
Amazing figure. Not hard to see why FT is the King. I hope brand x will hire at least a H.S. educated engineer and designer someday. Great review Sony.
Another perfect release. This is the reason I say if it aint fanstoys I dont want it. Kudos to fanstoys, they could sit on their reputation and let their products slip but as true professionals they don't. I hope they make every character so that I can have a fanstoys only collection. great review
