Fanstoys is so frustrating. They have all these exciting reveals, but then put them on the back burner indefinitely. How long has Blitzwing been languishing? Like a decade?
Frankly, I got tired of seeing too many Optimus Primes in the market. I want too see more Decepticons although I am aware that most of them don't sell much
Something is a little off with FT-Magnus’ alt mode. XTB’s version nails the esthetic in both modes. What I’ve come to realize about FT is that although they go for cartoon accuracy in bot mode, the alt mode tends to be more realistic. They never disappoint, need to see more images.
I love how FansToys hides the wheels and treads in combined mode. It's more toon accurate. Fans toys quality and engineering is above all to me. If it's not Takara it's FansToys personally
I disagree with your assessment that XTB Constructicons are more toon and Fanstoys real world. The Fanstoys Scrapper and Scavenger look like children's toys, very smooth, simple and gappy. The XTB Long Haul, Scrapper and Hook have real world detailing.
I’m getting the X-Transbots contructicons, Ironhide & Ratchet, purely because of the Fans Toys timeline/prick tease issue. When Fans Toys announces something more concrete, I may preorder the Ironhide & Ratchet, sell off the XTB versions. But I’m not sold on the FT constructicons colours, even though the renders look good design-wise.
At this point, I would never take a chance on any FT combiner. And this constant retrreading of already released characters is off-putting. I'll give XTB credit for striking a balance between new characters and new versions of already released characters. There's no denying the quality of FT's figures but they aren't all winners. I think the big backpack on their Cliffjumper was enough for me to pass on it so I stuck with the MMC version which has its own issues but not a huge backpack. However, I'm not an FT hater. I just picked up Chomp and Dracula but I was able to get them for a reasonable price. I learned my lesson with Thomas for not waiting for a cheaper option or for a deal. I paid $300 for him and then the KO came out soon after. I admit I gave into FOMO for that.
The FT will always be the better investment but I understand. I gave $225 for Thomas and I didn't like him originally but I'm happy to have him with my star toys blitzwing. The first release of Thomas came with the track and it's better put together. But if you're going to play with it, I would get the ko to mess around with. I also paid $200 I think for Tesla 2.0 much against my better judgement. Now you can get him about $125. 🙄. Just be patient I guess.
Interesting that they choose to tackle Prime before Megs. Personally not in on any of this. Happy with all my current representations of these characters. I will say as much as I like Fanstoys individual figures I wouldn't even consider going with their Devastator/Constructicons. I'm simply not that patient, life is too short...
Nice little sit down talk video about upcoming FT releases. Lots of ideas and thoughts, and FT has some BIG reveals. My advice to FT, FINISH your Suprion and Menasor First. Then branch out. I can't help but feel that several of the FT "Reveals" were a Direct Challenge to their Competition making similar product. We have seen this several times before from FT, and 90% of the things they have revealed are still in the cue from years ago.
I'm more than happy with my xtb magnus and don't see the need to buy fm's parts former. I'm out on both xtb's and ft's constructicons as I already have mmc's assaultis so I'll be in on mmc's set to scale with my current piece.
They all look amazing! Definitely great we have options. I think having an fts Ironhide and maybe an xtb Ratchet would be awesome. Also, the fact that the Ultra Magnus is pretty much an Armor is enough for a purchase for me! As imo they both were going to 2 separate things! Now those Constructicons look amazing!! The big question is..will they complete it? To me! It almost seems like all of this is Bot Blocking of xtb, and mmc. Because we have no idea when they will be releasing these. Am not sure if Fts knows that they do have a cult like following and no matter what? 🤔 people will buy it! Including myself.
Dang it! Fans toys probably charges the most of every company, but looks liek Im going to have to give them some money. i was planning on making a 3d printed Ironhide and that chest to waist ratio is the best ive ever seen and matches up to the scenes that i picked to copy.
FT's seriously needs to release their last Stunticon figure along with the last two Aerialbots. Ironhide and Ratchet look to have faux chest and it does look as if that toy gimmick sled is indeed needed for their alt-mode...SMH I'm not in on their Contructicons set. Two reasons. Their robot modes look as if they're all going to have wide hips which makes them look weird. Why FT's. I'm probably going with XTB for my robot mode Constructicons. Toyworld/Zeta Devastator is still King These faux parts cheats have got to stop and I hope this is not where the industry is headed.
I'm having a tough time with deciding between which Constructicon sets I should get. The Xtransbots looks really good, I know the Fans Toys combiner mode will look great, and MMC along with Hasbro are gonna have their sets as well. Very tough decision!
My issue with the "Fantastic Model" Prime is that it looks very much like it's another faux chestpiece. I'm just not a fan of that trend. I know it makes it easy to get a toon-accurate robot and alt mode, but when a company is able to still make good modes and avoid the faux chest (like Takara and especially the Magic Square Prime), it just seems that much more impressive and appealing to me.
I square away the idea of getting another version of a character by getting the new one in colors I don't have yet. TF Magnus will fill the white recolor slot.
It's nice that FT and XTB come out with their versions of popular characters, but I wish they look into doing the later characters like the Technobots, Predacons, Terrorcons, or the clones. Then when those are done, FT can finish their Fort Max and then decide to do a Trypticon?
I hope those sleds for the FT Ironhide and Ratchet but TMReviews spotted what does look like the sled tracks in Ratchet's shoulder. So it seems like the back might be parts forming. Can't put my finger on it but something on the FT Scavenger seems off to me. I think combine mode (if it's ever completed...lol) will look good though. The xtb Long Haul is a solid offering but the materials give me a little pause on how solid combine mode will be for their Devastator. The mmc renders had me out initially but the prototype pics might just tip me back to them.
I originally pre-ordered the FT Scrapper and MMC's take of the Constructicons. Then XTB came out with Long Haul and after looking at the reviews, I purchased the toy version of it and will be going with the toy look. I've still got FT Scrapper on pre-order but, Scavenger has me a little worried and, like you, I don't know why I'm worried. As for MMC, I've got First Aid and Streetwise from their upcoming Protectobots / Defensor set and I really like them. Early videos of the upcoming Hot Spot also has me very excited. I know it's not going to be the best looking when combined but, I also know it's an all in one transformation so I'm ok with it.
Some folks crapping on the FT color scheme but I think it looks great. Only beef is in the vehicle design simplicity but let's be honest these will either stay in bot mode or combiner mode and there are plenty of options if you need a vehicle mode for display. I have the Jinbao weathered versions and they're huge, well detailed and perfect for vehicle mode.
I don't agree with the apparent hate of the sled being part of Ironhide/Ratchet's transformation. That's exactly what I want and have been waiting for. I had the diaclone (black) Ironhide as a kid and the sled/robot combo was a major play factor for the toy, making it one of my favorites. The only way I'd get a MP Ironhide (hopefully in black) would be if it had sled as part of the transformation.
The sled is all the panels you see all folded up inside the torso. The question is will FT be making/incorporating covers that were not shown at this time because as it looks now, if you want the sled, his torso is going to be missing 2/3 of its mass and look empty. Hopefully there will be some kind of covers so the figures can look whole while having the sled out.
If you notice on Magnus the thighs have the two blue lines are on a panel which rotates so its plain white on the otherside for Armored Up Mode. Its also likely that the whole upper part of the robot ends up being cubed up, as theres no way it would fit with the biceps. Its looking like its almost like its G1 counterpart.
XTB Scrapper will have covers for the Wheels also to make it more accurate, the photo doesnt show them but one of the other versions does. As for the FT Gravedigger, The extra treds is to make it cartoon accurate, the main treds form the forarm with the parts forming hands.
I never got XTBs Ultra Magnus. I want it but the toon version didn’t stay in stock at most places. So I stayed with THF KO of Takara. I’m all in on Fan Toys Magnus.
I have him and he's solid. Problem with him is the transformation is really complex as it incorporates the trailer into the transformation. It's not really hard but just a lot of steps to get there. I also picked him up when he was on sale from ShowZstore so that was a very nice plus. He's still available from BBTS but, it's a little more expensive at $210. I think ShowZstore was $170 when he was available and I got mine for like $140 and even less once I applied the store credit I had saved up.
I think I prefer the FT ratchet and ironhide over the XTB versions. Mostly because of their chest. I don't care if they have parts forming as long as the bot mode looks cartoon accurate. Also, the XTB versions have a lot of accesories which might drive up their price considerably.
I understand that a lot of ppl dislike parts forming but I would love to see XTB & FT take a page out of Zeta's model & make their combiners as bots/limbs & then sell the combiner body chasse as a separately sold part because they both make good bots & this would give ppl the option to buy all the teams as bots and get the whole combiner for ppl who want to display both ways...I Kno they think they'll make more money by forcing ppl to buy 2 sets but I think those ppl will do that either way...
Why would any want a another Ultra magnus ? I still think MP Ultra magnus and the KO are the best and if you get a white mp-10 your set ! and they never break !! But come on Fanstoys Iron hide looks better then x transbots !! but again Takara did it 5 years ago
I’m really looking forward to the new drops from FT and XTB. Definitely will buy the FT UM but I will only have it in alt mode because I feel that XTB is still king wit their UM.
I'll give FT releases credit for lowering prices on previous releases. Been wanting to get the toy color version of XTB's Ultra Magnus so hopefully people will start letting them go on eBay for much less than they cost now.
I had to get out of the MP combiner game. You just can't tell what you'll get five years after you order the first component. The XTB Stunticons were a great deal to begin with, but got more and more expensive. And I never got the trailer set (guess they didn't make enough to fill all of the preorders), so I ended up with a set of Stunticons that can't combine.
@@jasonbari5997 Thanks man, but I have learned to live without it! I broke my Deadend the second time I transformed him, so I'm happy to end my XTB collection there.
FT is just a bot- block at this point with these renders. Thinking I'll go with XTB Ironhide and wait for FT Ratchet. Already in on XTB Constructicons. I think FT UM is going to cost a fortune but it looks great.
There is no way that the 'battle station' part of the Ironhide/Ratchet mold is separate. It's clearly the roof, front set of doors and windscreen flipped upside-down.
It is though. If you look at parts of the sled, then compare to details of the panels in the torso, you can see its all there. You can even see the treads stored in the chest. It really is an all in one transformation that the rear section can remove to become the sled.
Fanstoys is that guy you know that always tries to one up someone's story. It's initially fraudulent and you laugh and nod your head. Then they throw money at a fallacy and it's true. In 4 to 9 years.
Takara's prime is looking a bit dated already. The FT one looks good, but I cannot stand chrome that they love to throw on everything. Always looks tacky and scuffs. Watch them do a big chrome purple chest wing on their devastator. Edit: the color is totally wrong on the FT constructicons' purple bits
FTs UM should be interesting, but the clip on may have durability issues later on. Both Van bots are Trash, XTB has all the cut ups and FTs has Parts Forming in both modes...EZ pass. FTs Devastator is going to be Completed by 2040 so I'm out.
