This show was iconic and much loved back in the day, definitely. Nearly everyone, no matter what they were into, tuned in at least for the opening to see who the guest stars (same with Fantasy Island) but I never knew even regular watchers of the show to actually buy these figures (they'd have had to make do with Adventure People, I guess, for the passengers?). I am impressed that they did the entire cast (even removable hat?) and the ship. Shame other toylines atthe time didntgat that level of dedication/thought.
The silver legs again? Do they own stock in silver paint? Silver is shit on figures. Hasbro is the master of painting silver over everything that was white or gray and ruining entire figures. FUCK silver paint.
When I was a boy I watched the Love Boat. I don’t remember it like I do Threes Company though, I would love to have Jack and Larry figures! Mr Furly variants!
Well they are cheap and easy but it was a Mego Rabbit hole starting with Buck Rogers, then Dukes of Hazzard and some of this fell into my lap for cheap
I really feel bad for new collectors who want to collect vintage joes. I have been carrying the most desirable joes with me since the 1980s. I only had to go for the less expensive ones to build my collection with the occasional expensive figures and replacement parts. Like my snake eyes (commando) figure whose left arm just broke due to age and I had to buy a new one. That is something that is great about Joes. You can always buy spare parts and rebuild your figure (and vehicles) easily. Enjoy the hunt!
Got the same piece but I picked him up used over a year ago. Paid a premium for him too. Like double what I could buy him on ShowZ today but the MMC wasn't much cheaper at the time. This around the time everyone was going nuts for the brand new at the time Hasbro version and everything Cosmos was expensive. The Legacy used today is more expensive than the XTB at ShowZ. People seem to geek out over Cosmos. 😂 I like him a lot. Nice and large too. He's a chunk. I never liked the G1 version but my XTB has grown on me and I'm glad I got him, even if I paid a bit much at the time.
Preordered mine from TFS-Express. I've been waiting so long for this guy to get reissued. Easily one of XTB's best looking figures. If Fans Toys announces theirs this week, there's a good chance I'll pass it up.
I just got my copy of the reissue Klaatu & I LOVE it!!! My only other Cosmos (MMC) now lives in alt mode but I didn't realize how "off" he is until in got the XTB version...f.y.i. I used a small piece of paper towel for friction to keep those foot flaps tabbed in...I don't see how any company can top this figure for this character...
I have had this figure as my definitive Cosmos for sometime now and I love it. I even bought Barada, the blue (Go-bot Pathfinder) version since I loved the figure so much. Now if they would just release a Sliver version to pay homage to the old Sci-Fi UFO films named Nikto to complete the "Klaatu Barada Nikto" phrase, I'd throw my money at them for that too. Great video and thanks for the comparison.
I saw someone glue an eraser from a pencil to that panel on his chest so when you press it the head pops up. Kind of an ingenious solution to a finicky mechanism.
My ShowZ order on him just hit the US. Can’t wait for it to arrive so I can sell the Hasbro version before the reissue come out at the end of the year/beginning of 2025.
Great video loving the figure too, swopped my toyworld version in bot mode this guy. I didnt notice the stripe on the foot can be flip - thanks :) Was that a tracks voice you kept doing at the start lol :P ?
Nice review but I don’t see enough of a difference to pick up this version. I have the original version and the blue one and I love the mold. Great figure!
Definitely one of their better figures. I have one the originals from years ago. As tempting as this is, I'm gonna wait to see if Takara or Fanstoys take a stab at it.
@tydiriumhanger1320 I do remember reading Fanstoys has designs for EVERY G1 character. Soooooo, now that Xtransbots is releasing this, I wouldn't doubt a FT reveal sometime soon. There could be some hesitation because this figure is that good.
good handy video as I am about to jump into the legends scale game and trying to narrow down which company I want to collect. A buddy of mine is all about Newage. I am leaning towards Magic Square, but I am realizing I am going to have to cherry pick across a few companies to get the full cast I want.
I thought of two design fixes for the problems with the extending legs and the trapdoor. For the legs, design it so the wings (which may need to be redesigned to be thicker, more durable) fold onto the extended legs' thighs, preventing the legs from retracting. For the trapdoor, design it so there's a tab that rotates with Cy-Kill's throne; when Cy-Kill turns to face an intruder, the tab will be rotated out from under the trapdoor, sending the intruder to the prison cell. Anyone else want Hasbro to bring back Thruster (who may need to be renamed to avoid confusion with the Decepticon "Conehead" Thrust) as a playset for G1 Minibot (Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, etc.) or GI Joe-sized Transformers?
