That's Brilliant 🤔. That means that there is more of the good stuff for us 👍. Just make sure that it isn't brewed in this country though. At Lidl it's brewed in the Czech Republic,just like Staropramen.🍻🍻🍻🍻🍺🍺🍺🍺

Aldi and Lidl are smashing it right now. Sat here now in the sun drinking GRANDE lager which is ALDIs knock off madri but actually brewed in Spain. It absolutely blows madri out of the water!

Off to my local Lidls to see about scoring one of these bad boys - I remember having this on draught in Prague :) One simple rule I Iearned from this channel is; don't buy lager that's brewed in the UK.

@@ianwgardiner Since comparing a few, I'm convinced it's a good strategy! God knows why UK brewed lager is so crap... it doesn't really cost any less that lager that's had to go through all the extra cost of being imported from Spain/Germany/Prague etc.

I've just seen someone in Asda buying large bottles of British Madri at 4 for 3 (was Carling Black Label, you said!) I picked up three large bottles of Feldschlößchen at £1.10 a bottle and brilliant stuff. Brewed to German Purity Laws.

Unfortunately the average person has no capacity for independent or original thinking. Most people are simply bland, boring, unimaginative, snouts in the trough consumers. There's no inquisitiveness or curiosity to find whats great and good. If its not offered to them via slick advertising, theyre not interested. Youre in a precious minority my dear friend. Of course Budvar is a delicious beer with integrity and pedigree that doesn't compromise on quality.

I was going to mention these in the comments, amazing value....Lidl have really turned things round with beer, 5 years ago, they were my last choice of supermarkets for beer, now it's one of my first....every week now in the specials section they have quality imported beer. Yesterday I had some beers made in Spain from them, small cans called Valencia... delicious 10/10

Not sure about where you live , but in my area B&M do 3 500ml Bottles of Budweiser Budvar for £5. Also you can get Pilsner Urquell for 2 pound a bottle..... Nectar of the Gods. Not the abomination of the brewed in the UK , chemically induced gnats piss.

Budvar is excellent. While it may not be the best Czech lager overall, it's almost always the best lager available in British supermarkets.

simon, you recently did a video on lager thats decreased in alcohol strength? I went to Lidl yesterday and their Excelsior lager has gone down from 4% to 3.4% 😞. Shame as i really liked that lager but won't be buying it again.

Yeah it's bobbins - 3.4% is some magic UK government threshold, where the tax the brewer pays is less. John Smiths also just stealth dropped to 3.4% as I think did Carlsberg (green can version). So that's why a bunch of beers have or are going down to 3.4%.

I just got back from Slovakia. The local beer in the east of Slovakia, Šariš is bloody delicious but also had plenty of Pilsner Prazdroj (Urquell), Kozel (11° tankovany) Radegast, Gambrinus and this new Krušovice called Bohem. Absolutely top notch.

This beer has to be called Czechvar in the US due to trademark issue with you know who (AB/ InBev) but of course the real Budweiser from Czech is the far superior one. Never seen in mini keg here in states, only 6 packs of 330 ml bottles. Very fine beer this one is but I would like it even more with just a slight uptick on the bitterness/ IBU count with this one.

Bud at is a good product and would recommend it to anyone, however I wouldn’t let half as much gas out as you did, and I always let the keg to stand about an hour before doing the first pour

Had this on draught, as well as a darker Czech Pilsner in Leipzig in Eastern Germany in a rather swanky hotel called the Merkur in 1983. The cost £0.50 Lol 😂 Do have to agree the Lager you've shown is like none other compared to Maiden's Piss, such as Stella, Carlings and Harp lager we make in Ireland.

did you not read the instructions , it say do not open the top tap until the flow decreases , you want the internal CO2 to stop the beer going off and only open the top tap when the internal press has gone

Correct. I made the same mistake after buying the last keg Simon reviewed. The first few pints were frothy as f* and the remainder were flat. A waste of £15 really. *I have bought mini kegs before but it's been a while and I'd forgot the method you mentioned and copied Simons 'method'.

I'll have to correct you on the beer's name, it doesn't come from the family name but from the German name of the city where the brewery is located - České Budějovice (Budweis).

Just been to lidl myself and purchased 2 of these beauts. Only concern is it says to place in fridge for 10hrs. I am thirsty 😂 is this necessary or would a couple hours do plus a frozenish glass do?
