Love your reviews! As someone who’s interested in picking up a rough understanding of well-known comics, this has been a great way to get an informed and pleasant synopsis. Keep it up!
This was an Excellent review! This just got reprinted after it being so expensive online. Hope to see more vids. The new Spiderman Nick Spencer is out now
Thank you for doing Volume 2...can't wait to get the reprint later this year, I love Volume 1 and the scattered back issues I've read that are contained in here. I normally get the DM Variant, but I will be getting the standard because She-Hulk's on it lol
Looking forward to getting both of these and hoping they won’t get delayed. Wouldn’t mind a reprint of that Alpha Flight omnibus either! Anyways, really enjoy your reviews! Please keep them coming!
Thanks for doing part 2. I definitely need to add both of these to my collection. I'll have to capitalize on the new reprints coming out. BTW did you read/review the recent Marvel Empyre event. If so, what did you think?
I definitely recommend you get both reprints if you can! I haven't read Empyre yet, I'm quite behind on a lot of modern Marvel from the last few years honestly, I need to catch up
Wow. Beautiful work on this omnibus by John Byrne. He has such a clean and dynamic style. Not a huge fan of FF myself, but this omnibus looks gorgeous. I'd pick it up if I found it on sale somewhere. Thanks for the video.
@@TheComicBookTrove Not sure I could pin-point one or two things. The team has always just seemed boring to me for some reason. Just never really clicked with me. For team books, I've always preferred Avengers and X-men.
Also had to comment about what you said regarding Ron Wilson's art. He did a lot of Marvel Two In One prior to this and this doesn't look like the art from that series. Hilary Barta has a cartoony, brush heavy art style on his own, so I'm wondering how much the inking dictated the look of that issue and how loose the pencils were.
Yeah I think this was just an example of a penciller and inker whose styles didn't mesh well together, the artwork just looks very strange in that particular issue
Great review! Which of the two volumes did you prefer and why? Also, have you read the Fourth World by John Byrne and would you consider doing a review? Keep up the great work!
Tough question because I really think the whole run is so great, but I think I'd just about say Volume 2 because I really like how Byrne uses She-Hulk in the team in these issues As for Fourth World, I haven't got around to reading it yet, it's something I need to check out at some point!
Last Galactus Story was brilliant but as it was only printed as part of the Epic anthology it came to a halt when that magazine was cancelled. Byrne has detailed in his website what was intended to happen which basically took us from the end of this version of the Marvel Universe and into the birth of the next one and given the quality of the art we saw it would have been imho the pinnacle of his career but sadly, not to be.
I think that Byrne may have been removed... 'cause he started doing Superman for DC. I think Byrne wanted to stay until issue #296, the 25th anniversary issue.
Yeah that could well be it, I've also seen that he apparently just suddenly decided FF "just wasn't fun anymore" or something along those lines which I can actually totally believe him saying 😅
I read that it was Jim Shooter being a jerk because he was doing stuff for DC (same thing happened to Roy Thomas in like 80 or 81) but I could be wrong...Shooter did a lot of good at Marvel but seemed to also piss off a lot of talented creators.
