A jet with 4 engines, a rather short runway and a mountain at the end, can it get any better? JustPlanes was lucky enough to film an AIR FRANCE Airbus A340-300 on a roundtrip flight from Paris CDG Airport to St Maarten and on this video we give you some highlights of the departure from SXM Airport seem from a number of cameras on the flightdeck followed by the pilotseye pilotsview takeoff, followed by some great wingviews on takeoff and ending with some airport views of the aircraft taking off!

something is ODD in this upload 2:40 & 16:40 - here in the first one the co-pilot is turning the aircraft to line up on the runway, but in the second one you see the co-pilot waving to people on the beach,but in the first one he does not..just watching it careful, go back and forth and see...something is not quite correct..

One of the more "radical take offs' on the planet. I really like the way the people hang on the perimeter fence waiting to see whether they will be blown off by the wake from the engines. BTW that last bit of footage was epic, were you on the mountain filming down onto the airport??...good job.Happy landings and safe travels;-))

What Flap setting do you use in the A340-300? In the 600 they recommend flap 3 as bit to tail strike. Long plane the -600

I'm flying with oxygen soon. Can I use a pulse oximeter on the plane? Anybody know? Thanks. Advice appreciated.

I can't imagine why not, from a technical perspective. A basic pulsoximeter just consists of an infrared light and infrared sensor placed on your fingertip, along with a computer to interpret the readings. The results may however be inaccurate or varied, as movement has a marked effect on the reading. You have probably noticed this if you have worn a pulsoximeter and tried wiggling your finger.

Il s'agit d'air France ou Américan airlines, pourquoi ne pas s’exprimer en français ? L'utilisation de sous titre est envisageable, à moins qu'il ne s'agit d'un reportage qui s'adresse exclusivement aux anglophones. Concernant les communications radio,ça peut se comprendre c'est du côté néerlandais de l'île, pour le reste je m'interroge sur le sens d'utiliser la langue de Shakespeare comme moyen d'expression.

L’Anglais étant la langue internationale en aéronautique il semble logique que le personnel de langue différentes parlent anglais en revanche les deux pilotes étant français cela revient de leur choix de parler anglais ou français. Le fr étant l’une des 6 langues reconnues par l’OACI ce qui n’est pas le cas du néerlandais.
