fantasy high junior year wrapped up yesterday, and I wanted to get this out as soon as I could. Enjoy :) All clips from Dimension 20, only available on dropout.tv
You have to understand how much restraint it took me to not have a Murph Cam (like at 3:34) every single second he's on screen. His reactions are the best part of the show.
Didn't they say something at the beginning of the season like chaos wasn't cute anymore? Then proceded to give the most chaotic energy season ever? I love that.
Murph went from trying not to say cock at the last moment, making it way more obvious, trying to make it about how "cark" sounded weird, before finally accepting this would likely be his D20 meme legacy. All within 0.5 seconds flat.
This season was unhinged and phenomenal. I was actually crying at one point last night not from it ending, but from how it all went down in the funniest way possible
Even cowgirls get the blues fucking destroyed me at the start of the episode. Like- there was just something about the break during the delivery that the energy was just insane
I just realized that the only way to reign in allys chaos is to ask for a dexterity check. Going to run in a steel workers union? Dex save, stop the chaos and get back on track.
For anyone curious, Adaine's scooter actually is from Sophomore Year. When everyone was rushing to try and rescue Fabian from James Whitclaw, Adaine reached into the Jacket of Useful Things for something that would get her there faster, and pulled out a razer scooter that didn't help in the slightest.
zac’s “i don’t have ANYTHING to do with that. i don’t have ANYTHING to do with that.” is one of the least appreciated lines in the season. gorgug was so good that episode
oh my god I forgot about that moment of Fabian rolling TWO NAT 1s for helping Lydia Barkrock. I was so fucking stressed out by that lmfao I loved Lydia so much and was gonna be so mad until Kristen rolled the Nat 20
It wasn’t until the 7th time watching the “more hole” scene that I could not cry long enough to see that Brennan, upon becoming a dad, already has a pair of New Balance sneakers.
personally, there is nothing that makes me cry of laughter more than brennan's insane "rat showing hole" noises and mannerisms. lou trying but miserably failing to stay in character and uproariously laughing instead really puts the cherry on top.
Ally was on such good form this season, I think every episode there is a moment where they absolutely killed me with something they said. “What are you, like four different dogs?” will be going around my head forever
ally is such a fun player to watch because you *never* know what will happen when they open their mouth. keeps you on your toes. i say "hey girlie" daily now
1:50 is so so so NAADPod coded it’s insane. Like, the second that happened I thought back to all the intros where Murph, Caldwell, and Jake joke about how loud her tea is
15:04 gorgug’s irritation with his parents during this battle being the starting point of him getting more aggressive and snippy this season killed me so bad like something in him finally snapped
Lotta Spoilers ahead: I think everyone peaked this season. Brannan's Long con to make Porter the BBEG and give Kristen a lesbian Pantheon to worship also just everything about Mary ann Skuttle. What a season, it is really tough to put a mystery together like this where at every point it feels like we are making progress but only in the end everything truly falls into place and to be able to plan it in a way where it fits in this format? I am sure they did some reshoots and all but still the overall structure had to simply work and he pulled it off beautifully. Not by himself of course, but it's his baby. The Artteam nailed it again, with top ten worthy Battlemaps every single encounter, my favorite mini Was Baron although unfortunately we kinda skipped it. Emily playing Fig's fear of just being herself was truly amazing the whole season, what an arc and a worthy sendoff to our favorite Bassist. Also Dawn of justice man, what a sick moment. And the whole sidebit about Leading Rubin along with the CWPC. Siobhan first of all brought the outfits, but more importantly I think the relationship between adaine and aelwyn is amazing. As someone who has a sibling with whom I have aleways been fighting but now we are doing great together, it is insane to see it and their dynamic cracks me up everytime. "we can be a little mean to you sometimes" was so perfect. And then of course aelwyn ruined kristen completely. Also throughout the first half of the season Adaine made a point out of never pronouncing Kiperlilly's name correctly and it felt so petty and spiteful I really felt the Sisterhood between the two come out. Anyways her positioning and spell usage in the final fight was also top tier and then of course the simulacrum although points are mostly going to Ally there. Speaking of Ally, they were on fire so much it would be easier to list the misses. I mean, the Ex talks with Tracker had me the most I think, but Ally also demonstrated that they were really ahead of the game of the villains, withholding the name from Bobby dawn, Spotting the ratgrinders in the last Standart exam, they were on it. In many ways a beutiful mirror to Kristens arc, where ally brought all the chaotic energy kristen usually has but they were also able to pull it together and get stuff done when they needed to, much like Kristen herself leearned to do that without losing herself at the same time. K2 of course also has to be on the list and then there is the line to end all lines, at the first meeting with Kipperlilly. Gorgug was carrying combat so hard with nat 20s I don't think I have ever seen anyone roll better than Zac in sort of the mid part of the season, Gorgug really finding out what is important to him was beautiful, saying no to owlbears, inventing a new multiclass build, actually studying hard and living up to his potential while still just struggeling to find his confidence is heartwarming and then there was the party at the Thistlespring tree wich had me cracked up with how uncomfortable he was at the admittedly wildly inappropriate Sex machines. Still though at the end of the day his parents did a great job putting him back together everytime he was in bits. kinda symbolic that fixing the van is like fixing gorgugs soul a bit. Lou played a really interesting season too with Fabian being simultaneously super confident and insecure. As is often the case with popular people from rich backgrounds he struggles to be able to tell if someone really sees him and is more concerned with his image than himself at times. Through his relationship with Mazey though he actually manages to be more voulnrable wich is really ironic considering he has had his dad tatoo Maximum legend in real gold onto his neck. (also an insane scene) anyways though I think my favorite Fabian moments were right in the first episode the nat 1 streak and then later in the season the recurring bit with the bank guy, man him and fig ruined that mans life. And lastly Riz, man I think Murph had one of the coolest seasons ever, he was ontop of everything, figuring out the mystery really showing us the cost of Riz' spreading hismelf thin lifestyle, The moment where he tells kipperlilly she can't PvP, my God what a burn and so true. The ratgrinders as a whole have really avoided the direct confrontation and when they finally did, Kiperlilly in particular got schooled. with that second level spell, (hold person over the lava) Riz completely ruined the plan. And it took so much to get into that moment, it wasn't luck Riz played Kiperlilly like a fiddle it was beautiful. Anyways 10/10 season, props to everyone I am so happy it came out the way it did. These are my favorite D20 characters anyways but this solidified it.
Improv comics plus DnD is just too good. Especially this cast. Every single one of them adds a perfect, unique personality that just really brings to life any campaign they do together.
i want to have a smashcut that is just lou and murph reactions to ally. i think lou has some of the funniest fucking reactions to their shenanigans on this planet
Knowing that the name “Kipperlily Copperkettle” came from a character that Brennan played in a campaign once, and then hearing Ally say “what are you, four different dogs?” Makes that scene so much better 😂
12:52 is such a perfect NPC interaction. Like, nothing in our lives ever makes sense, an explanation does not even matter at this point, can you help us or not?!?
This was definietly the funniest fantasy high season 😂😂😂 but the best for me is still the second season. I feel like this season we didn't get enough of Adaine and Riz.. Maybe it just feels like this because their problems weren't that big compared to Fig and Kristen...
I actually totally agree. This is the funniest fh season, but in regards to story and the characters, sophomore year is still my fav of the trilogy and actually my favorite d20 season ever. It did such a good job of focusing on every pc and providing satisfying character development for everyone at the table in a way I don't quite think junior year was able to do. Still a great season though.
So my AirPod died right at the point where Lou Wilson shouted “THEYRE SHOWING SO MUCH HOLE!” I was on the bus. People looked at me. I watch Dropout TV you already know I have social anxiety. I seriously contemplated suicide in that exact moment.
