Mitch - do you remember an episode where a boy was surprised with a trip to see David Hasselhoff on the Knight Rider set? We have a promo pic from that episode of "Fantasy" but have been looking for the actual episode for 30 years!
I was on this show the Nashville Edition 1983. Glenn was our host at the Grand Ole’ Opera Hotel and took us around town taping. We also were included as extra’s when he was hosting a young girl at the amusement park there. Got to meet others like Minnie Pearl, Tom T Hall and Buddy Killen was gracious when my husband sang for him. I used to have a copy of that episode but lost it somewhere along the line. Glenn was so young then but he was such a professional and a wonderful young man.
Do you remember a man named James Marcrum that was reunited with his military son on the show? My wifes papa was in this show and they talk about it all the time, wishing they could find the footage since he has since passed away.
@@NicholasLeland I don’t remember the episode most of the time I was working but would catch if I got home in time. They got 80K letters a week & I had forgotten I even wrote it. I left my husband the day before & he came flying up to my friends house I was helping her with a garage sale. He was all excited asking me if I would do it! I said do what? He had obviously steamed it opened & read it & if it hadn’t of been something to benefit him it would’ve gone in the trash. It was a big opportunity for him to audition for Buddy Killen who owned Tree International the biggest record producer! I said of course but if he made it big he’d have to buy me a new car! LOL Buddy was nice & encouraged him to continue writing songs! I wanted him to sing 1 of 2 songs but he sang one that didn’t impress. I should had insisted on it but he was hateful the entire trip & figured it was his to win or lose! In 1985 I heard a voice that sounded all to familiar & I froze & turned the radio up! I could had sworn it was my ex-husband but it was some guy named Garth Brooks! 😃 That organization paid for everything & we stayed in the Governor’s suite @ The Grand Ole Opera Hotel. Even got a letter from the Governor. Amazing experience!
This show was aired on NBC daytime Friday, June 17, 1983. When this was aired on NBC daytime, last day of school for the 1982-1983 school year, school lunch menu courtesy of the Glendora, CA Unified School District: Bean & Cheese Tostada w/Sauce, Shredded Lettuce, Spanish Rice, Fresh Banana.
Glenn Scarpelli mentioned Tom Reilly from CHiPs about a minute into the episode. I don’t know if CHiPs had already been officially cancelled when this episode of Fantasy aired. However, CHiPs did not return to the airwaves for the 1983-84 season as the May 1, 1983 episode had turned out to be the series finale.
For logophiles: 58:22 Fantasy is a… …Merrill Heatter Production & Earl Greenberg Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television (also SPTV Studios/SPTV International; pre-2002: Columbia Pictures Television)
I didn't remember Glenn Scarpelli being on this show. He apparently picked up this job right after his departure from _One Day at a Time_. This was probably also a ploy to try to get a younger audience watching the show. This was an early version of reality television. It was a good show for Peter, especially after they made the horrendous mistake of cancelling _Hollywood Squares_.
That's a great question. I wouldn't be shocked if they are lost. Then again, this series isn't remembered enough to be in demand. It does seem that around 1980, they stopped taping over their programs.
It aired on NBC daytime from 9/13/82-10/28/83, usually at 3PM EST for the NBC stations that cleared it. I don't believe it cleared in Philly for most of its run, for one, despite the letter from Philly being read here,
@@darrylh1971 This show is in the Sony library because it was co-produced with Columbia PIctures. GSN aired one episode of it only, when they debuted the channel.
It was all so wholesome unlike today! Normal dress, no extra piercings or tattoos! We’ll groomed and clean cut men! Beautifully dressed women! Lov the old commercials!
