I don't really like working to tight deadlines, but the resulting pressure has often yielded an end product that I end up being very happy with! This particular piece of music was written in four days, as part of an end-of-semester assignment for my film music paper. The assignment brief gave us several options to choose from, but the most appealing one involved writing a theme for a hypothetical fantasy film using typical harmonic language and conventions found in fantasy film soundtracks.
We were only required to submit a short score, but hopefully this should still give you a good idea of the orchestration. For simplicity and convenience, everything is shown in concert pitch.
