Welcome to Faouzia's world! Pronounced Foh-zee-yah (you nailed it by the way), she's a 21 Moroccan girl, living in Canada, who never had singing lessons, and who writes most of her songs by herself!! I recommend you to listen to her stripped versions before the originals, just to understand the emotions and the meanings of the songs! Wow. Almost dropped my breakfast over het golden voice. I’ve heard the chorus before, somehow. But this version is my favorite already. I like it stripped down. Beautiful.

The fun part, she has been a full time university student studying engineering the last few years. She also plays piano, violin and guitar and speaks 3 languages. Oh, and she has taken up modeling as well.

She's a self-taught singer with no formal vocal training. She plays piano, guitar, and violin, and she may have classical training in those (I'm not sure), but for sure she has no formal vocal training. She doesn't know her voice type as a singer, I've watched her video saying as much. Just amazing. Try watching the video for Faouzia's "Minefields" in which she does a duet with John Legend, it's got some beautiful harmonies.

Just my opinion, but to me you can just forget the official videos, as the Stripped versions are vastly superior or better yet she has posted her full concert from the Burton Cummings theatre on her RU-vid channel and all the songs are fire, so react to them one by one.
