What causes female pattern hair loss, isn't completely understood. There's been a lot of research and there's still a lot of debate about this. It's less clear than with male pattern hair loss, but what we suspect is the case is that male hormones, androgens, which are present in both men and women, have an effect on hair over time. So some women are more genetically sensitive to the presence of these hormones. And what you'll see over time is that hair slowly becomes less in number, becomes a little bit thinner. And the effect that you see over time is a gradual appearance of the scalp, less hair in the middle. So that's the classic appearance of female pattern hair loss.
