Far Cry 3 completed in 3:44 on survivor (medium) difficulty. The goal was to finish Far Cry 3 as quickly as possible.

No plugins or cheats were used.
Cutscenes - including where no skill is required, other than to mash buttons the game tells you to push - were removed from this video.

Sometimes you see Jason skip ahead a few seconds. Far Cry 3 has an autosave system where if you reload a fresh save, sometimes it places you ahead. I tried to find and utilise such opportunities.
Examples: 7:12, 8:14, 8:53. The largest such skip is probably at 13:13.

This game isn't normally playable in stereoscopic 3D. To do that, you have 2 options:

The total 3:44 time includes everything: all cutscenes, button-mashing etc. The video is only 1:49 because I edited out all the boring parts that speedrunners and many players have already seen lots of times anyway. Kindly read the video description please. Thanks :)

The complete speedrun is 3:44, but I edited out almost 2 hours worth of cutscenes and "press button X" sequences.

Hey Thinkshooter I found out that if you approach a loot chest or anything that can be engaged and actually hold the engage key while moving towards it it will automatically engage. So you can loot much faster. e.g. while walking towards a chest hold both W + E and the moment you are in proximity it will get the chest. Release E and hold again for the next. This should save you maybe 15 minutes or so in the run.

Yes, segmented vs. single-segment runs are different. There are some nice single-segment fc3 runs as well. Having segments gives you a number of speedup opportunities. E.g. finding vehicles is less of a problem, so you don't have to roam the wilderness in search of a car. Luck-manipulation becomes possible. More dangerous shortcuts and tactics can be used. You can better prepare for missions and plan upgrades.. Lots of opportunities to shorten the run if you don't mind reloading checkpoints.

When the game tells you which buttons to push, I don't consider that real gameplay, so I edited most of those out. I did leave in some very short scenes for continuity.

And secondly, the scenes or cinematic cuts you've made as you want, I mean, what about Vaas's death, Hoyt's or Willis's death, as well as the hallucinations? All these parts are perfectly playable. You're right, if you play Far Cry 3 fast enough, the gameplay is shorter than the cutscenes. In the games I've speedrun so far, the total gameplay has always been less than 2 hours.

Wait a sec (a man named Hoyt) you can’t shoot a pistol with a silcener on it from top of the mountain but you can throw a c4 on the helicopter and explode it and you will not lose the mission

Hey man. I have no idea if this is faster but I discovered it on my first playthrough and im no speedrunner. At 37:40 you threw c4 near the heli to do a cutscene skip, but I found that throwing a grenade works as well. Would it be faster to throw the grenade over there all the way from the hut as opposed to having to walk up to the heli to throw the c4?
