The fact that Riley can fly a chopper is actually foreshadowed in one of the drugfilled flashbacks. In the Bar Jason and his friends have a round of shots congratulating Riley on getting his pilot license.

Jason: “I’ve never even held a gun before.” By the end of the game, I’m pretty sure Jason Brody has a higher body count than Rambo.

For a world geo assignment I had a while ago we were supposed to make an original map with stuff in it. We did it in groups and one group accidentally made the far cry 5 type map and when I pointed it out they where so confused and had no idea what I was talking about.

Far cry 3 was such an icon when it came out especially when skrillex dropped that track in the flame thrower mission it’s one of my all time favorite gaming memories from when I was young up there with halo reach multiplayer clans.

I spent basically the entire second half of the game waiting for Vaas to pop out from behind some door and bop us because I just did not think they'd actually just kill him off that early and leave us with only Hoyt.

I fully understand the score... Far Cry 3 suffered a lot from being right in the grind of "Unlock some kind of tower to reveal all the random shit you can do on that map" era of games from Ubisoft, where they just had multiple franchises all being made to the same formula. When basically every game you're coming out with is being made to the same formula and rapid fire release schedules creativity and dept are going to go up in smoke. One game that is absolutely NOT a copy-paste snooze fest is something I've been recommending for ages now, Neir: Automata. I can't wait to see how you react to the beautiful world and music... along with all the wacky shenanigans.

A neat detail is as you progress through the game and become a killer. On Hoyt's island the enemies are actually scared of you and they actually scream "Oh its Jason" lol i love it

I highly recommend pyrocynicals far cry 3 analysis video it explains a lot about the story and shows that there is a lot more depth to both the story and Jason as a character.

I still remember how sad I was the first time I killed Vaas in that weird little QTE parallel universe and then just...continued playing the game without him. Spent the second half of the campaign kinda mourning his death, lol

I think the gameplay is vastly superior on mouse and keyboard, by far had the most fun stealthing around and headshotting everyone. As for story.. ehh.. it was something :D But it was cool while it lasted. Best Far Cry game of all of them!

Ever since I first obtained a bow and arrow during Farcry 3 (and painted it brown to try and make it look wooden), I have all but exclusively used archery in every single Farcry game since. I initially did it in 3 because I wanted a kind of challenge run, to strictly use only archery and knives; by the end, I had so much fun doing it, I was ecstatic about №4 giving you a bow for the _very first mission._ It's a phenomenal franchise for it and legitimately got me interested in archery IRL. I purchased my first recurve earlier this year. A truly fascinating sport, and people *_tremendously_* underestimate the sheer amount of strength it takes to successfully pull back a bowstring. A properly-placed arrow through the lungs of a deer would need to have nearly 60lbs (~30kg) of force driven behind it, which you would need to pull entirely using only your fingers and shoulder. English longbows from the time of King Henry VIII have been recovered which required >80kg (>176lbs) of arm strength to pull. An arrow loosened from such a bow would legit fly completely through a man and into the ground behind him. Absolutely monstrous.

It’s less luck than you’re thinking Jazzy. Magic and the Supernatural is a confirmed part of the Far Cry world, and every protagonist exhibits some form of supernatural ability beyond it just being a videogame. Far Cry 1: Werewolfism Far Cry 2: Super Human Durability, You should be long dead before most of the events of FC2 could take place with such a bad case of Malaria. Far Cry 3: Jason has Precognition/Clairvoyance. Far Cry 4: Ajay has Astral Projection Far Cry 5: The Deputy can Adapt to ANYTHING including a drug that literally zombiefies you. No clue about Far Cry 6 as I’ve never gotten around to playing it.

I love Far Cry 3 and am always nostalgic for it as I played through it during the summer of 2013. I have so many fond memories of it, the soundtrack in particular, but the needless second island and heavy inclusion of Hoyt was tbh, very strange to me. He should’ve been nothing more than a henchman of Vaas you have to kill, he was far less intimidating and felt more like an “excuse” villain, something to pad out the runtime. Story wise, everything slows down once Vaas is taken care of and the second island was less interesting to explore than the first’s untamed forests, beautiful waterfalls and dangerous jungles. I still love the game, and every now and then I think back to it and smile, but there are glaring issues with it. Personally I’d give it an 8.5/10

Vaas genuinely is one of my all time fav antags, and I remember absolutely adoring this game. I wonder if it still feels weaker after you beat Vaas because I remember as a teen thinking it got way worse after he was gone. Edit: Oh lol well your review answered my questions somehow thats not entirely shocking to hear but it IS very sad to hear all the same also can I say killing both the main villains in a QTE is real upsetting to remember and hear again

The best part of far cry 3 is straight to the point.. Vaas. 4 has a better but also contrived story, while 5 gets some of the high notes of both

I've played this game multiple times over the years. What I would have done for Story purposes - Vaas Kills Hoyt in a cutscene while Jason watches - Vaas Takes over the 2nd Island - Jason Gets to Island 2 and attempts to save Riley - Riley and Jason start to leave together and Jason dies (Homage to the start of the game Jason is now the big brother (Grant) who is the one who dies during the saving) - You play as Riley with the only objective to kill Vaas and escape the Island - Citra helps and a siege takes place in the compound and is the one to kill her brother for her lover - Riley and the team leave the Island

Im really glad im not alone in this. Ive heard so many great things about this game so i went to play it and uninstalled it after only an hour or 2. As you said it was just way to clunky for me to enjoy

This was the first far cry i ever played on the ps3 and when i seen it in on the PlayStation plus store i knew i had to make that my first FarCry platinum.

Fully agree this game was great at the time but nostalgia is the driving force when looking back on it!

Farcry 3 used to be my favourite game for a very long time so many good memories from the ps3 days. I recently went back to this game and got the 100%. I agree with you about the controls being very clunky but overall my love for this game hasn't changed and Farcry 3 is probably my favourite Farcry game

I recently got this plat and also came to the conclusion that its kinda plain, this can be best seen in the map, its just kinda the same all over with little variation, I much prefer the map designs of the later games specifically 5 and 6.

This game is childhood for me. I played it every day for 2 months. Completing it fully twice and getting everything I could. I wish I could play it again but my account is bugged. Since farcry 3 on my steam account is linked to another ubisoft ccount that I don't have, so it won't let me buy the game again

Honestly now I would rate this game 7 out of 10 in quality, i dont mind the actual shooting mechanics but as you said there isn't a huge variety in enemies and the driving, even back then, was just terrible. And I would rather have Jason than Far Cry 5 with a silent protag. I wonder if you'll do Far Cry and have a higher opinion with some aspects with that one

Farcry 3 was a game where I almost accidentally platinumed it. I got something like 90% of the way there without noticing and figured I might as well get the rest.

Tbh I used to have the same perception of Jason as you did back in the day, didn't like him as a protagonist and thought some of the twists and turns of the game were too arbitrary... Then I replayed it, a lot of the crazy stuff that happens to Jason make a lot more sense if we consider he really is an unreliable narrator, from the moment you meet Citra he is constantly being drugged, so anything over-the-top that happens to him can be him hallucinating it. Far Cry 3 is awesome, but I'd say the controller really hurt your experience, lol, not helped by how some aspects of the game really show their age. Still, I love how committed you are for that platinum! It's youtubers like you that motivated me to finally start hunting for that 100% in my games! So keep up being awesome!

I was just thinking the other day that "Didn't already Jazzy already 100%ed FC3?" and heeeeere we are.

I just did this on the ps3 version far cry 3 was such a good game. The only problem was the frames dipped often especially at the last mission and the coop campaign was awful.

You gotta get all achievements in Cruelty squad, you’ll probably suffer a lot but it would be interesting to see how you get through it!

Recently I went back and played dead island, and having remembered it foundly when I was younger. But surprisingly for how much hate it got over time I actually had a blast. Would love to see a dead island grind.

I remember playing this game on the PS3, and I enjoyed my time with the game's campaign. I do agree that Vaas was severely cut short, and I really wanted his presence to last longer than the game allowed. I do plan to revisit the game on the PS4 someday. The only thing I look forward to when doing so is not having to worry about the multiplayer trophies, and that goes especially for the online co-op missions. Let me tell ya, those were an absolute pain to obtain especially when the PS3 didn't have the best internet capabilities and when you had to deal with less-than-stellar internet.

Man, hearing your opinion on this game hurt my soul. Don't get me wrong I can admit it has flaws, but in the 20 or so times I've completed this game it's always stayed at a solid 8 out of 10. Again i get that it can be repetitive and there hasn't been a single playthrough where I haven't encountered a bug that softlocked me, but unlike the other games you used as examples of great games that came out the same year Far Cry 3 is the only one i go back and complete once or twice a year. I think the easiest way for me to get across where I feel Far Cry 3 sits in terms of quality, is to say I believe it sits at the same level as Batman Arkham Asylum. It's a fantastic game that we can all admit has a few flaws, but if someone were to say it's their favorite in the series we would understand where they're coming from even if we personally believed otherwise.

You know what, ive heard so many people say its a shame they killed off vaas, but honestly, i think they played it out about as well as they could have. Yes he was the superior villain, but i feel any more times of him popping up would just make it tedious. How many more times could he have said the line "have i ever told you the defenition of insanity" before he seemed more like an edgelord than a psychopath. Hoyt, while not as good of a antagonist, felt like a necessary one. He was the order behind the chaos but no less sadistic. Dont get me wrong, i hate ubisoft, but ill be damned if some of their earlier titles didnt earn them a good reputation.

I know its a recent game, but u gotta 100% helldivers 2 achivements, theres around 39 of them, so for super earth, i ask you try, assuming you can get past the queue

"Killing" Vaas was the worst thing about this game as Hoyt was such a let down. Also I believe Vaas is still alive as Jason was trippin so much that it's hard to distinguish between the hallucinations and reality. also finishing his Far Cry 6 DLC on maximum insanity shows a cutscene of him noticeably older sitting on a beach talking to a tennis ball. Vaas is too good of a character to kill and throw away.

Am I missing something for as to why there was a double take on Hitman Absolution being released at the same time?

I got the Plat for Far Cry 3 a few months ago and I honestly have no idea what you mean about it being clunky and the controls being scuffed. Honestly, apart from some of the hunting side quests and that damn defend the plane mission, it was relatively simple.

Man, the plot really takes a nosedive after Vaaz's death. And, yeah, haven't played the game myself, but it really does look like it hasn't aged at all. Which is boggling as to this day is seen as one of the best Far Cry games if not best Ubisoft games out there (though my theory is because everything afterwards got worst by comparison).

Maybe it doesn't hold up on consoles, but it does hold up on PC. Yeah, story is meh and killing off Vaas was stupid, but the gameplay is a lot of fun! I've probably beaten this game at least 10 times and will eventually go back to it again.

Ludonarrative dissonance is a real problem in games like these. I never got Far Cry from the start, so I can't really speak on how it has aged. But it comes from a very specific era of games and there are many other contemporaries I would not like to go back to because it would ruin them for me.
