Never noticed how much more detail is added on next gen versions until now..it honestly looked amazing comparing it to the previous gen.

LMAO!!! These comments are an example of the absurdity of human denial. Because people can't afford a PS4 they say the PS3 looks better or that its being held back because of the new consoles. Get over it, the PS4 is much more powerful than the PS3 and the games are going to start looking dramatically better as we move forward. All things considered, the PS3 version is still worth playing. Considering that Far Cry 3 actually started to make the old PS3 creak (the console versions compared very unfavorably to the PC version with major cutbacks), the fact FC4 runs so well on a PS3 is a testament to the optimisation of the Dunia engine. The differences in physically-based rendering are apparent in comparison, but less so in isolation. The one major difference is the lack of cloth physics on the PS3, which means that a lot of flags are missing.

Texture detail on the PS3 is astonishingly good for a console that old, and much better than FC3 where there were a fair bit of blurry textures. The PS3 version of FC4 is very impressive; to me some of the most impressive programming has been on "downward ports", the SMS version of Road Rash is one of my favourites.

its weird as I remember playing far cry 3 on Xbox 360 and being blown away.Now when I go back to 360 After getting used to ps4,I find it hard to get in to the games.I find the graphics really lacking and it takes me out of the game.You find your self saying how did I ever game on this console.

I love playing FC on my ps4 but it looks like the old boy is still holding it's own. People who are still on last gen platforms are not really missing anything ground breaking by the looks of it

You can actually tell the differences here unlike the PS4 and PS5 graphics comparison videos. PS5 barely look any better than PS4. PS4 and PS5 graphics look the same.

I think the real issue is - is it worth buying a ps4 when the differences are so subtle that it's not worth the money yet. It's not a big enough leap and I'd like to see a vid where your shown a screenshot and have to guess if it's ps4 or PS3. I think many would guess ps4 for some of the ps3s. Just saying.

Not much of a difference. I feel these companies need to focus less on making money & more on noticeable changes and advancements both in gameplay and tech.... that way it would take much much longer to release new consoles maybe 10-15 years. Problem is that they in business and have to keep releasing new stuff to sell and make money.

Both consoles look amazing, except PS4 is a bit newer and more HD with more life to nature (Such as trees moving with wind) but yeah.

I remembered people saying that this game was downgraded, I actually can still say it looks great on both consoles despite that. I miss the days when graphics were being pushed to the extreme on both systems. PVZ Garden Warfare and Destiny on PS3 are my personal favorite examples of games that still stack up well against their next generation counterparts. Like they might as well be next gen, just slightly blurry. Ubisoft didn’t skimp out on the older generation, and I’m glad that their developers put in an effort to preserving their work for older systems. Definitely a telling sign when this has been the last generation that I can see a leap in. We need better for PS5 and Xbox. To this day, Farcry 4 has my favorite canonical ending to any game ever. Just eat some crab rangoon for 15 minutes and go shooting, then go back home. It’s pretty creative considering how boring Ubisoft has become since, but it’s very smart. Hard to think these games went from a thought experiment about 7th generation game design to just being a hollow parody of what it originally parodied. Insanity.

Comparing PS3 with a PS4 is disrespect to the OldGen consoles, just imagine how many memories we shared with PS3, how many games we played on PS3 with the people who are not here with us. PS3 had amazing graphics during its time, PS3 was launched in 2006 and PS4 in 2013, come on guys have some respect for the Oldgen console.

I love the graphics and I like that it is realistic, but not TOO realistic. Wow the PS3 is/was so awsome! Kids playing PS4 (Pro) and XBOX One (S,X) don't understand just how big a jump there was from PS2 to PS3, it blew our minds and to think they didn't even start utilizing the hardware more fully until a few years later. PS3 was revolutionary. It's still, along with my Wii U, my main Console/ Media Device, and I do have a PS4 Pro and a Switch.

This makes me want a Far Cry 3 remaster for next gen. Mainly because of the music in the background lol. Seriously though Far Cry 4 was definitely not a bad game but it seemed to me like the story was rushed a lot. Far Cry 3's story was sooooo good

I mean, the PS3 graphics are good. It's pretty good for nearly 10 year old hardware. But the PS4 looks beautiful. It's definitely better, but the PS3 is still okay.

While the next-gen versions are clearly better, I still feel like you'd be playing Far Cry 4 in the best way possible if you'd play it on last-gen. I don't know. Just feels like that's how it was *intended* to be played.

Let's not kid ourselves, the PS4 version looks better...but by how much? If you can run the same assets and same physics on the previous platform with a smooth framerate and decent render, why bother with the new consoles? are those pixels really worth the price?

You may be right as the PS4 is newer hardware, of course it will have more power. Most new hardware does. After all, it wouldn't make sense to build new systems with stripped down hardware. (Unless you're Apple, but that's beside the point.) Even so, I still appreciate the PS3, because it's been tested and pushed to as far it's going to go but still it's stable. I'd rather have a working stable machine than a machine that isn't quite fully stable yet. After all, there's a lot of updates that still need to be made to the PS4 just so it has the capabilities that the PS3 has now. All in due time.
