You got played cause during this last cutscene I stopped and was confused when I saw eli and remembered that the people I previously shot didn't vanish so I let the time run out [ spoilers] That being said I didn't have a choice
Notice how near the end enemies doesnt poof into smokes but actually bleeds and dies, hinting that you're killing real people, small details like that really makes the game better
I realized when i have to kill him or I tried to make the timer run out so as not to kill him but I had to kill him I didn't like doing it but I got my revenge by killing Jacob with the laser weapons from the DLC and I didn't like because It wouldn't be funny if I used that but I hated Jacob so much I just didn't care
It's weird that Jacob not only brainwashed Rook, he brainwashed us, the player. I rushed in thinking it was just another dream vision. I was busy killing everything, I never noticed that in the bunker, I was actually killing people. Then came Eli's death... I was so busy blindly killing, I had no idea Eli was around the corner until the game came to a freeze and Jacob started talking. That moment right there made me question: "Did I really just do that?" Then everything unfroze and that confirmed it. I did kill Eli. It left me in serious shock. Good job Ubisoft. That was really well done
I think the best part is, not only did the game trick us into killing Eli, but it also affected into the player’s real life even after you finish the game. I’ve seen stories throughout comment sections where when Only You plays, they start frantically panicking and fear that they’re going to get captured, even if they forgot about the game’s existence. I think that’s genius game design to where it takes the immersion to a whole another level where Jacob not only brainwashes the character you play as, but you as the player
I automatically pulled the trigger when I came around the corner. Even after the first cutscene, where I became aware to not play by his rules. You're good far cry. Really good!
Honestly I couldn't even tell it was Eli until he fell to the ground. Sucks that side missions advance story progression, I ended up liberating Jacob's region without even getting to know any of the characters.
Same. I didn't even recognize Eli well until the game told me I killed Eli at the end. Some side characters in this game I don't even recognize because only a few times I ever do missions with them.
It's because Jacob's region is rushed. In the other two regions I was able to collect the Guns For Hire, finish the story missions, and finish most of the side missions before completing the region. In Jacob's region I collected all of the Guns For Hire and completed one story mission before completing the region.
@@supier_men7522 Its because Jacob's region takes less resistance points for some reason. Faith and John's regions both take 13,000 resistance points, whilst Jacob's region takes 10,000. I'm not really sure why they did this, personally I found Jacob's story and reasoning a lot more interesting than the other two. John and Faith sound insane, but Jacob has reason for his belief. Jacob and Joseph were definitely the best characters in the game.
As stated already the brain washing method of this course really did work. I was running the course pretty much perfect with fast target acquisition/termination like in a trance, entered the final hallway, side stepped from the corner while hipfiring my m249 in the direction of the final target whos position was etched into my brain from running it several times already. I didnt realize it was Eli this time around until I had already fired several rounds into his body... Genius work by the devs. I felt like a tool.
the fact that not only Rook is being trained how to kill in these bunkers, the player is, as you start to memorize their positions and you kill on sight, well done ubisoft
Only you started playing when I was in a plane so I crashed into a building You will never take me alive Jacob Even though I magicaly survived and was captured
I was in a helicopter one of the times "only you" came on, and I remember thinking "this is a bad time to black out, flying a freaking helicopter" lol 😆
It's terrifying not only seeing eli be killed, but realizing you were the one to kill him. It's sad too, Eli was kind and genuinely cards about you, and this is how you repay him.
I ran through this part as normal, but I noticed Eli at the very end and hesitated and that was when I went 'holy fuck." Honestly this whole brainwashing part was a stroke of video game design genius.
I think I was second or third time I realized what was going to happen. So when the last part came around I hesitated to shoot. Jacob was the only sibling who legit terrified me though. They did a great job of making you feel like you couldn’t escape him.
I remember playing this. I started to realize the bodies weren't turning into smoke and their outfits looked so much more familiar, and I turned the corner about to shoot and then I heard "Dont Shoot!" and I didn't, it was eli. I stood there because I didnt want to shoot him then the timer hit 0:01 and I panicked and shot him... i felt like a tool. Well played devs, amazing game.
I love how Ubisoft brings us through the same trial, progressing a little bit more each time, and here we are thinking they’re just being lazy again, reusing the same segment. But we kept getting better, memorizing the enemies positions, and just getting to the point of killing on sight. The brainwashing segment is genius.
What makes this so valuable is that it will only have the desired effect on you only the first time you play it, the first time is when you feel actually brinwashed and played like a fiddle by Jacob in such a smart way. This was so creative, and even if there were a lot of hints pointing at the fact that Jacob was planning to control you, you never see this coming
I kinda got a hunch when I saw people bleeding instead of turning into smoke. When I walked into the last room, Eli wasn't attacking me like the others. He just stood there and if you got your crosshair on him, his color is green, unlike red for the enemies. I tried everything not to kill him, let the timer run dry etc but nothing worked :(
The brain washing worked I was so addicted to mindlessly milling people, then i noticed some of them weren't actually *_turning into SMOKE_* like they used to, and that detail made something click in my brain. *This isn't a test, this is real life* Then i turned the corner, and saw Eli, i saw the "green crosshair" pop out, but i killed him out of instinct... :(
Only youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
I don't know if it's good or bad that I actually realised what I was doing towards the end and then just kinda stared at Eli... then failed the mission and realized I really have to do it. I really wished there was an alternate end to this thing, based on what happened to me.
Oh yea dude,I was quite a fair bit back from the mountain behind a rock and I somehow managed to snipe headshot him from where I was. It was literally the luckiest headshot I've ever gotten on Far Cry 5 lol
I think the timer helps too, I was playing this co-op and me and my friend just tried to speed run it the entire time, pretty much perfected it by the time we got to the final run so we didn’t bat an eye when we rounded the corner... poor Eli
The segment where you run around shooting people reminds me a lot of that cutscene in BO1 when you break out of the chair and run through the building hallucinating, if I'm remembering that correctly.
Far Cry games are notorious for having actually bad ass villains that you almost root for in a crazy way. Vaas and Pagan Min will forever go down as some of the most legendary villains to ever be written into games. Especially since Pagan Min technically wasn’t the villain. I hope writing and story telling like this doesn’t die as gen z starts to make the next generation of video games
I caught on to this trick & realised what it meant, i seen eli & had no choice but to kill him to continue the game and hope it was just a illusion but nope it was real I actually killed him, I found Jacob and over killed him 10 shots to the body 3 in the head and set him on fire & still was pissed
When i was about to kill eli i noticed it didn't let me knockout like i always so i just shot like what ever then because i wasnt paying attention to the game i thought i just killed a follower because he looks like one
When i got to Eli, he screamed "NO, don't shoot" but the bullet was already out, was shocked since i was just shooting so i can be done with it and go back fishing 😅
Brain washing worked on me for two things. Number one, I just ignored everything and kept shooting people until I got a little sus when the last few started actually bleeding. Then I turned the corner and just sprayed down Eli thinking he was the last enemy. And number two, the song. I got so used to it playing that most of the time I didn’t even realize. And then when I got the “turn away” ending, I freaked out cuz I realized that everytime I was on a rampage, “only you” was playing.
After beating Far Cry 6, I really, really miss Far Cry 5’s tone. It was way more disturbing for me. Psychologically, you weren’t sure what the hell was going on at any point due to Bliss, and this bastard’s music box. Only you.
The first time I played this I let out a genuine audible gasp at the end. Second time I played this I waited for the countdown to reach 0:02 and then punched Eli in the head. Dunno how that resulted in a bullet hole but alas
