Nigel Farage has said he is not holding in-person surgeries in his constituency over fears the public will “flow through the door with knives in their pockets”.
The Reform UK leader, during a phone-in on LBC’s Nick Ferrari At Breakfast, said he had been advised not to accommodate the “old-style” physical meetings between MPs and their constituents in his Clacton seat.

If Farage is that concerned with someone coming into his Clacton surgery armed with a knife, then he can quite easily hire a CP (Close Protection) from an ex-military person. You'd think he would be able to afford that with his MPs salary AND his earnings from being a presenter on GBeebies

First response from Farage to a tricky question - attack the questioner. He's been in office for months now and is only 'attempting' to put together a staff. I wonder how long that will take? Another 3 years, perhaps? And he dodged every question on doing physical surgeries: 'Have a guess', 'I would have thought that would make sense', 'you should do some things and not do others'. All evasions. Not one actual answer. I bet his Zoom 'surgeries' are a riot - one tricky question and it will be a sudden loss of signal for the questioner. That's why doing it face-to-face is so important.

So he flies back and forth to the US where he is 5 times more likely to be murdered. Most/all other MPs do hold surgeries while facing that risk. The real reason he doesn't hold surgeries is because he feels he doesn't benefit from them personally. It has got SFA to do with the risk of being knifed.

He isn't 5x more likely to get murdered in the US. Quite the opposite. About 2% of counties account for 60% of murders, generally US homicide is very very narrowly geographic and he doesn't go there. Other than that he hasn't faced the decades-long vilification in the US as he had in the UK. No "oh how I wish someone would throw acid in his face" as he got from the BBC here, wilfully inciting violence and hate.

How? He doesn't visit, doesn't do surgeries, doesn't reply to emails. How is he at all in contact? Our local MP can be found at surgeries every Friday and at the local football club every Sunday where he waits around for a an hour or two afterwards to talk to locals

If you are not performing the duties you where elected to carry out then you should not be taking the tens of thousands of pounds in salary. Then we have the expenses issue! You have been elected to represent the interests of your constituency and the constituents who live in that area! You where not elected so you can take tens of thousands of pounds of taxpayers money and the endless expenses in order to allow you to take on any number of second, third or fourth high paying jobs and then totally ignore the very real issues of Clacton!

Farage supported cuts for pensioners - until the government announcement. They announced the winter fuel allowance for those over eighty (who qualified) was increased by fifty per cent. The government started to increase the number of those getting pension credit to help the poorest. And the fuel allowance was cut for those not on credit (over a quarter of whom are millionaires like Nige).
