February 27th, 2022, the first most tragic event in 2022 of Aviation. After the Russia Invasion on Ukraine has started, Ukraine's iconic aircraft ever built by a company, "Antonov", the Antonov AN-225 'Mriya' was destroyed by a missle attack while parked at a large hangar in Hostomel (Gostomel) Airport, AKA Antonov International Airport (GML).
This video is mean't to be for the 1st AN-225 (UR-82060), and because of the AN-225 destroyed, another AN-225 was built, but was uncompleted, which is hiding somewhere in Asia, or Europe. All hope is not lost for Mriya.
MY THOUGHTS & PERSPECTIVE:
It was February 27th, 2022, a nice start of Sunday. I woke up, got ready for the day, and went outside to see the beautiful Sunrise in California, USA. After all that, I went to go on my phone, and scrolled down on Instragram to see any updates of the Russia Invasion on Ukraine, and other stuff. This is when I saw Sam Chui's Instagram post saying "Mriya - You will always be remembered! We pay tribute to the world's largest transporter! Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs confirming the news the world's largest cargo aircraft, the Antonov #AN225, has been destroyed at Hostomel Airport outside Kyiv". I knew I had to get my hands on the internet, searching for an image of the AN-225 destroyed or not, and there it was. A picture showing the AN-225 in her hangar, destroyed in flames. I was kind of tearing up once I saw and heard it. I knew that people were going to make positive videos about the AN-225, so I had the idea to make one too, just to pay respects for 'Mriya'.
