I started working on this, before my video about the shattered warpgate - so this basically summarizes my Blender learning progress so far.

Also thanks to Qarix (0:35), Alpha (for his feedback, that consisted of a clapping cat) and the devs for observer cam access.
Gonna try to do a fully animated short towards the end of the year, let's see.

You know, when seeing videos like this I sometimes wonder why DBG just doesn't give out scripts to creators so they can make official lore videos or a youtube series. Like sure sometimes there is the war correspondent now. (Only 2 times recently) But the franchise is kind of unique. Did anyone ever make a series about a war on a different planet that never ends ? Just imagine the potential for interesting characters in this whole scenario... We could learn how the soldiers live and cope and how the civilians are living. Or what each facility does on the map and its lore importance in holding it. Once again.. A man can dream.

if they approched me, i'd be instantly up for everything. but i dont think that approach would work that well for them; handing out scripts would require them to hire writers, dunno if thats feasible for them - yet at the same time, you propably dont want random creators wrecking ur lore or sth thanks for the props

@@flashyyy "reators wrecking ur lore or sth" Well... there is barely any active lore to begin with. Just a background with a lot of potential. All these tidpits of shortstories barely cover anything. Afaik there isn't even a book from some B-Writer with a license. Of course there have been many failed attempts in other mediums with game origins. But I think PS2 is unique in the sense that you have a interesting premise but barely any active lore that you can fuck up. You can go totally wild.

@@flashyyy back in planetside 1 there are so many fan-based storylines tied to their character and lore and legends it's insanely good, and guess what the most famous two were NC players, I forgot the male player's in-game name, but I remember the female player sApHiRe. Also back in the day Sony actually doesn't mind it. Back in the day, MalVision had shot many in-game short films, however, their Lore Movie cannot be found anymore. You know i like the casual planetside 2 content like doom721, camikazee or cyrious but im just in love with planetside 2 content that showcases the beauty of the game. A good example for that is like lady baggins's and your videos.

Very nice work. Really shows the power of blender etc, and if getting the ps2 texture maps into blender wasn't such a giant pain then it could really open more doors

yeah, its a lot of busywork... but it makes it easier that there are a lot of shared textures that are used by multiple models

@@flashyyy actually its Sigma Enforcer, and its actually just an ODST helmet. the spartan mk5b helmet was somewhat similar but the closest yall NC got to an actual spartan helmet are the 2 trooper helmets

i dont feel qualified to do a blender basic video (there are many out there alrdy & ive been using it for only a month now) buuut a quick planetside x blender video is defenitely on my todo list, will try to make it beginner friendly

put weapon on position, then select weapon -> object constraint properties -> add object constraint -> child of -> select target with eyedropper -> select the nearest bone -> set inverse
