Very nice little selection of shots there Mike, locations I know very well of course! Sad to see them go, but they've had a good innings and carried on 18 months longer than originally planned too. I must be doing something wrong with my movies of these last workings though as I can't even get 1K views, never mind 10K+

Another great video, even if this one is tainted with sadness that another Inter City service is saying goodbye to the HST. Only Cross Country left running them on Inter City services, but still glad some have found a home on regional services too.

I reckon EMR could have done more to publicise this - I’d have loved to have been there - checked the website out for any info and there wasn’t any about the actual last working… I had my name down as a contributor in Rail Magazine in the 90’s as noting a new name on the side of one of these, we lived next to MML and saw plenty of these hourly as a lad growing up… RIP HST

Great captures Mike. Alas it wasn't just the end for HST's on the Midland main Line, it also signalled the end of EMR services to York, and the official end therefore of services to Scarborough. On top of that Meridians will now be a far less regular visitor to Corby as the 360's take over the bulk of the services. A sad day all around on 'The Midland'.

Excellent footage of this sad, yet moments occasion. The MML without the HST's just won't be the same.

Did many many miles from St Pancras to Sheffield up and down the MML in my early 20's when I was a student (and thats going back to the early 90's!!). They were always smooth riding, and quiet. I do remember however standing all the way once when the ECML had some sort of catastrophe, and the buffet car ran out of beer. (you can guess where I ended up standing). Sad day has come, but I guess it had to come at some point. What units are they replacing these beauties with?

Great video Mike a real gem.I loved the shot of the hst coming out of the tunnel.I have actually visited the viaduct location when I had to go to that area about 3 years ago,it was a lovely sunny day and I was there for about 2 hours and not one flippin train came so I gave up and went home

This is a very interesting video, for me, in which you show not only the passengers and the photographers documenting this train but also the interior of the coach and the countryside, yes it is all new to me.

Sad to see I think they should be kept in service so much better than the class 800’s

Fine footage of a sad moment on the MML. In recent years we have had them going to Skegness on summer Saturdays so that will be no more as well. Good photos on the final approach to Skegness station.

Excellent footage. I presume that was the Welland Viaduct shown? If so I travelled over it on the 12/5/21 from Melton Mowbray to Kettering on the only passenger train of the day in that direction.

Fitting tribute Mike. HSTs and the Midland go together like bread and butter, they will be missed.

It definitely won't be the same without the hst's on the mmle, but at least a few, tocs still operate them!

hi whats going to happen to the hst power cars ? horrified to see airline style seating in the carriages,i can remember the original seating.why did the blunderheads change it, to cram them in expect, come back the 1960s..at least we have the blue pullman as a reminder

The one thing I don't understand is why couldn't just convert the doors to automatic, I'm sure it would more cost affective, than paying billions, for a newer more expensive & uncomfortable fleet? Or am I missing the something ?🤔
