Farewell to the King War Drama 1989 Nick Nolte, Nigel Havers & Frank McRae 

I always thought this was an excellent movie and one of Nolte's most underrated efforts. Thanks for posting this.

The little People by the Lake seem to refer to people from Flores Island, Indo. There lived a people called Hobbits. Really. They were isolated, and lived there for about 200,000 years. They hunted dwarf elephants and giant rats. Archeologists discovered a cave, Liang Bua, and documenting a dozen hobbit skeletons one meter tall. :-)

I read the book many years ago. Also read "World Within. A Borneo Story" by Tom Harrison, the British ornithologist/ethnographer/SOE-trained guerrilla leader, whose real-life story this was the inspiration for. Highly recommend both books.

Crying shame how forgotten this is

I saw this back in the 80's. Probably my best liked Nolte film. it reminds me of another jungle flick " At play in fields of the lord "

They used to film beautiful movies with meaning, without stupid political views and toxic ideologies.

This is Noltes best movie. What a classic.
