A song so powerful for a game that never even officially released in English!
Here it is... the Wing my Way revenge. As an I'VE Sound fan, and a KOTOKO fan, I love this song to bits. But also, the story behind the game's fanbase is also really interesting, isn't it? How the Farland series is super popular in Korea and China, how the fan translators are actually way better known for doing the Fate games, how Wing my Way was the opening song for Anime Expo 2005, and that... Uh, OSU fans really like this song?
Mixing vocals for I'VE songs are really hard, because they always have this harmonious, electronically refined sound to it. I don't know that much about mixing, so I did what most people do and... Sang the song twice. I hope that brings a bit more depth to my vocals this time - but nothing will ever match up to KOTOKO's powerful vocals. Wing my Way is NOT an easy song to do either (maybe OSU fans might agree?), you can hear how hard it is to have your voice jump from extremes in KOTOKO's live concerts. I can tell you, the line before the chorus is very hard to do in one breath - you prolly hear my retakes in there. But that's okay. Because I love Wing my Way. Wing my Way forever.
Wing my Way was recently performed at the GIGA Memorial Live concert, featuring KOTOKO. It was the final song she sang to finish off the marathon of eroge openings she's done for the company - as Farland Symphony was also published by the same parent company and all. "It was my first foray into TGL, and started the relationship between us for many years to come. Even as [GIGA] closes down, may we continue walking onwards, with our tears forming the path for others to follow." Was something KOTOKO said during the concert's end, or something like that....
The lyrics of Wing my Way have driven me to tears, and so I hope my love of this song's history, the artists behind it, and the games that bring it to popularity all come together into this cover!
