Went up to Greasy Creek and caught a mess of fish today. Then I brought them home and cooked them for my wife and kids. I appreciate the inspiration to do it. I really appreciate the knowledge of what these fish actually are. I caught bluegill, red ear sunfish, and one pumpkinseed. Keep up calling out the names of the fish. It really helps!
Kinda funny about fishin in Missouri back around 1990 or 91 I was stationed in Missouri as a recruiter. I would stop and ask folks to fish in the creeks or ponds on their property. This one fella told me I could fish in his pond but the dam had let go 2 years before and froze solid the previous year. But he suggested this little pond that was in a park just outside town. Took my wife and son with me . We were catchin so many crappie that anything under 13" went back in. On of our best family fishing trips ever. Thanks for bringing that memory back John. Please continue to share your adventures with us. God bless
You never cease to amaze me John, I am impressed at the fish you catch but I’m really impressed at your genuine great attitude, living the life man ! 😁Not really sure where I am,so cool !!
I saw the thump on the big slab and knew that you had him! I also really appreciate the Bible verse at the end. I work on a drilling rig and we are drilling our last well now before we all get laid off. This really gives me encouragement that the Lord will take care of me if I keep pressing on. Thanks
Just amazing when you're one of thousands of people who drove past that ditch but the only one to stop and fish. The payoff was slaying some nice Spots and crappie while getting the hometown farmer's wave. 🚜. Thanks for sharing and taking us along on your journey brother. Tight lines.
Wow...that would be an amazing day of fishing for anyone, and you just took a chance to fish that ditch... This is why your videos appeal to me more then anyone else. Its real unfiltered fun. God Bless and Go Kats!!!!
I grew up on the upper gulf coast of Texas near Galveston. Our ranch had a bayou, swamp, canals and several spring-fed drainage ditches running through it and I remember one time, I threw a casting net in one of small ditches and I couldn't believe the sizes of the fish I was catching, then I went to one of the rice canals caught a huge catfish! I was so proud! I was a girl, fishing by myself and brought home a lovely catch!
I can't imagine the amount of pesticides in that water and that's why you never ever see any locals fishing that water. They're driving by shaking their heads thinking I know that fool ain't about to eat that.
I love your videos and I think this is my new favorite of your s. I get a huge kick watching you fish these ditches and spillways! It's truly amazing what you catch in these place. Please do more of these ditch fishing videos. Thanks, Danny from Minnesota.
Very nice! That fifth one did a one-and-a-half gaynor with a double back twist into a bass' style swan dive! Wow! The judges rated the dismount a 9.8 overall! 🎉🚀 🎇 Addendum : there were some points off due to a very rude, cheeky gesture it sent your way just before the splash. 🤷♂️ what can i say? bass.
i love that you will fish spots that most folks will just drive pass and not even give a second glance I'm just like you when it comes to fishing them spots, keep them good fishing video's coming i am a big fan of your channel.
P.S. You remind me of my dad years ago. Ok you kids, five more minutes and then be ready to go. 2 hours later, and we get another five minute warning, then it's starting to get dark, and we are all hungry so he finally gives a big sigh and we pack up for home. Smile. I miss those days.
Loved this video John. just goes to show you that fish live in just about any body of water. I think since so many foundation boulders were in that bridge abutment and surrounding pool to anchor the soil down, it made a very natural structure settlement for all those fish to live and thrive. It looked like a lot of those stones were there at the edge of the water as well as being in the water. Looked like they were everywhere. Structure used for ambush as well as water flow. Doesn't get much better. Loved this video immensely. Thx
Your videos are so pleasant, and helpful. I'm one that really enjoys fishing, but is not so great at catching. You make catching fish look easy, and it's satisfying to see your skills in action. Also, thanks for identifying every fish you catch. It's helped me learn a lot! Oh, and the Scripture verses at the end of your videos are actually my favorite part, thank you!
Im a Missourian, drove over those ditches near new Madrid about the time you fished, i wanted to fish them so bad. Wife wouldn’t stop. Could see the fish jumping from the Highway! Amazing how many fish are in there
Such cool stuff to be able to fish these kinds of areas. Probably don’t see many anglers fishing those water canals. For me it’s a fishing paradise lol. Great video.
lordkatsumori1 You know most of the time I would agree with you but the frickin core of engineers almost has the water up in the trees in bull shoals and they won’t let any water out so yeah. Also the town of Forsyth is flooded al throughout the bottoms with water up to the roofs. Sorry for the rant
@@joeschranz4525 When I was there in 2014 I remember all of the rivers being flooded then as well due to all of the rain in March and April. Then Of course the waters receeded and everything went back to normal. People played Golf and went fishing, And I remember talking to people who have lived there a very long time and they have said to me that it is not the first time the area has flooded nor will it be the last. Since I am not there now I am not able to determine how bad it is now compared to then. But what I will say is that I know the people who live there are very strong and resilaint people who will bounce back as they have always done. So Good luck to you
I've been fishing in similar looking areas because the catfish bites really slow, cant believe how healthy those spotted are, and thick crappie in that little stream I'd say it's probably an overflow from a bigger body of water?
Here in N.C. those are irrgation ditches, and yeah they usually connect to a med/large creek or a river or they will connect ponds on a farmer's properties
You should get together with Cole and Jay in Arkansas and fish with them one day. That would make a hell of a video. This was great as well. Keep up the great work.
Just found your channel good stuff 👍 I'm in Florida and there is a ton of ponds road side retention water ways and you would be surprised the amount of fish to be caught. Will check out the rest of your vids
Awesome stuff my friend, love your work! A lot of your content has inspired me to fish a creek when I see them and more time's than not, it's hard to beat a great day of Creek fishing! ok
Thanks for making me laugh again today 10:22,then the mumbling, lol that's why I love this channel,John can fish great and serve the Lord and put you on a smile all at once! Nice video bro!
I have fished ditches that look exactly like that for over 30 years lots of catfish and carp you really do well using worms and clams in ditches and canals just like that
Great show. There are farm drains like that all over the place. Makes me curious about what they may hold. Also the little creek cross the road from my house. Never tried it, but it's probably worth a go. I've seen otters over there, and they must be eating something. Thanks for some good ideas.
Gooood good stuff dude! That was a sweet little hole you found there! I’m hoping I can get on some this Saturday and get some cool content! You got me motivated! Haha
Great video. I live in the UK, - Lots of people here pass-by small streams & run-offs, drains & culverts. I must admit - they're missing out on some great fishing action. 😁👍
That’s ok, we’ll drive from Nashville to visit several friends in the area and all eat there when the restrictions are lifted. Take care and catch some big ones for us. I’m a Shimano baitcast man myself.
