Teardown of the 1949 Farmall Cub has finally begun! This should be a pretty fun and fairly simple restoration on the old girl! #farmall #tractorvideo #internationalharvester
Hope your channel gains a lot more followers from the Cub restoration, Cubs videos are pretty popular and should get you more traffic. You definitely deserve it, I know I enjoy the videos you put out.
Magneto drive has good snap to it, still. My Grandfather's Ford 9N had 8 cracks externally in the water jacket, no problem fixing them, closing them up. But we ground them down to make them a little more cosmetically attractive :)
Yeah it definitely does snap good! After I wire wheel everything thats what Im gonna do as well and grind it down a bit. The Frankenstein stitch isn't very attractive lol
Awesome brother. I had no idea about that brazed block repair. It looks pretty obvious, but I really didn’t look them over that hard. Glad it looks so clean and good inside.
You getting the head pressure checked? You keeping the 6 volt system or going with 12? About the only thing that I have ever thought was a bad design was the tank and hood combined! Good luck!
Yeah the tank/hood wasn't a well thought out design lol As far as the head Im gonna check it for level to see if its warped and yeah Im gonna stick with the 6v on this one too. The 300 utility though Im gonna convert to a 12v system.
If she had coolant in it. When you brought it in. I say the block is fine. Wouldn't hurt to mag it. Not sure if. I would use SS bolts for the head. If you ever tried to remove SS. Not fun.
Hey man. still watching. Interested to see the Cub get a rebuild. Im still working on my Super A. Hope to shoot some paint soon. Looking for some experience on installing new starter ID tag with starter intact. Was concerned about drilling out old rivets and pieces falling into housing.
Yeah its definitely gonna be night and day difference on the old Cub very soon! Glad to hear your Super A is coming along nicely! Definitely be careful with drilling out the old rivets!
I went ahead and ordered pop ups for a little extra power. I haven't checked the head yet. Ill try to give as much information as possible on the videos brother!
@Raymond Buterbaugh I checked with Hamilton Bobs Cubs and Yesterday's Tractor and both said nope its all good. Ill do a side be side when I receive everything.
I’m at the stage of doing my valve job, I have a set of the pop ups and new rings. I did it because you just can’t get a set of standard pistons. I’ll let you guys know when I’m done how it is. Also I honed my cylinders and checked my new ring gap, Max is 17 thousand mine is 23 thousand, talked to my buddy ( Tractor and race car mechanic) he said I’m fine with that gap
