Boy, that brings back memories, steel wheels rattling on a gravel road, the purr of a 4 cylinder engine, and the smell of fresh turned topsoil mixed with a whiff of hot oil.. nothing like looking back on neat furrows.

You would be so proud of CAT! I just watched a Danish video, they were using a Cat D10 to pull big fishing boats out of bay up on the beach. They pulled about a dozen or so out. Smallest boat looked maybe 30 ft.

Like to see the old Farmalls plowing instead of being paraded on streets. No one plows much any more so laying out a field is almost a lost art - good video - keep them coming

Sad that the little farmer was squeezed out by factory farming I miss the old days picking corn by hand piling it in the back of a pick up. I love plowing when I was a kid my dad would get the first rows started then turn me loose

@A Phoenix is Rising I know what you mean, except it was JD 2-Cyls.-- Ar, Br, G for me. Our neighbor had a IH that i used to go "file the points" on for those that remember what points were. Don't recall what Model it was.

I sure do appreciate you posting this! I spent many years and thousands of hours on those models of tractors... (I'm 76) The M was a 52, but I don't remember what the H was... But they were both workhorses! Plus, I've always loved the smell of freshly turned ground😊... So, a big thank you from me!!

When you said rocks, I thought I was going to see one of those head snappers where the trip hitch does what it is supposed to do. I experienced that a few times plowing, as a kid, with a John Deere G. Great memories---hearing that JD, the smell of freshly turned sod, and birds following to grab worms.

This is undoubtedly the best video I've seen online demonstrating how to plow...beautiful...I plowed with 2 bottom little genius #8 on steel a few weeks ago with Farmall M pulling it....what a day. You learned me how to make the first passes and get the land started...Thanks so much!!! It worked great... BTW, research shows that fantastic IH plow was put into production in 1928 and was built for about 30 years.

Excellent tutorial on how to start your lands...I have been doing it all wrong and worked from the outside inward...I purchased a nice 1949 Farmall M gasser in 2011, a 1956 Farmall 450 LP in 2017, and a 1965 Farmall 706 Diesel with IH engine in 2019...They all 3 are running... after considerable work on the first two that were dead for 10-15 years and parts missing. The 706 was purchased in running condition last month, but needs new tires, the tractor included a front loader with bail spear and 8' scrapper blade that came with it for $4k...I have the same IH 2 bottom trip plow on steel you have, (research showed that wonderful plow was made from 1928 to about 1960), and I own a JD 3 bottom with hydraulic lift that has not been tested yet, and apparently I'll need a 4 or 5 bottom plow for the 706 Diesel...Thanks for the turorial. I learned a lot from your experience...God's speed on your future endeavors...DP PS. I'm going to pick up an AC-72 combine this weekend...I've been looking for one for 5 years and one finally popped up about 400 miles from me in good condition and resonable price.

Those mold boards behind the M were pretty well polished by the time your video captured them. I recall carrying a scraper to clean them at each row end until they polished up. The soil at our NW Indiana farm was a sandy loam which polished those plows nicely. Our Illinois land looked much like yours and took a few more passes to clean up. Always followed up with grease on the plow surfaces to keep them shining, but it never seemed to last on equipment stored outside. I also remember buying plow points at Tractor Supply. Good memories!

Squatch253 I would like to get my 2-bottom Case plow up and running. I originally purchased it for yard art, but then I thought... Wouldn't it look good behind my '41 Case SC? :-) Maybe in the spring I can get it in good enough shape to drop it in the dirt. We'll have to talk. I know I am missing a sod cutter (if that is what it is called), and the shares look like they are well worn. Maybe I will do a video on it soon. Gives me an idea now!

I really like to see the matching equipment. You’re ground looks pretty nice, those plows did a beautiful job. Dialed in quite nicely! My land is mostly light with exceptional drainage, but clay knobs here and there. Dad’s on the other hand is pretty heavy clay throughout. I’m running a F145 Deere 3-16 semi mount with my 720. I have a 555 pull type which would be more age appropriate, but it’s not quite ready as of yet and I am spoiled with how well the 145 works. I look forward to more of your content. Blessings to ya.

Growing up on a WPA farm in the 50's and early 60's we had a Farmall H and M and we also had the little genius plows. Brings back good memories. My older brother has the 1939 Farmall H, genius plow, 45 baler, and front end loader and has been restoring all of them. The sod turned over quite nicely and I didn't see too many rocks from my view point. What are you planning on planting in this field? Good video, enjoyed it very much.
