Farmall H Steering Bolster Repair

In this video I address the steering slop issue in the Farmall H. I remove the gear out of the steering bolster and turn it 180 degrees to get use out of some unused teeth. I then re-lube the gear box and reassemble with my own home made "corn head grease".

Watching you trying to line up the 4 grille bolts is exactly the the same problem I have with my Super MTA. It can be frustrating. 👍

International Harvester used half gear from the factory.

How wild were your front wheel in 5th getting ready to do my 42 H distillate and in 5th those wheels are like a jeep with the desth wobble lol

Mine too and I was hoping that he would take the steering wheel shaft out so I could see my problem

So did it fix the wobble..I'd like to see a test drive

Not 100% but it is I would say 85% better. It was hard to drive before but now its pretty good. I think to make it perfect a guy would have to re-bush the whole bolster. We run it with a couple psi uneven tire pressure and it doesn't wobble at all that way.

Yes I need to get a little more shop rearranging done (cool stuff happening there) and I have a few projects helping friends out. Then I need to get some heads put back on the Moline to make room for 300 assembly. I would like to have it running before hay season to take some of the workload off my M. The M is in dire need of a transmission rebuild, its getting progressively noisier.
