Farmdroid seeder-weeder testing 2: Weeding cabbage 

This year we are beginning to test the Farmdroid autonomous weeder-seeder in multiple Michigan vegetable crops at various spacings. This cabbage was direct seeded with the FarmDroid at 5" spacing a few weeks earlier. Here you can see the precision of the active knives, which rely purely on GPS-mapping from planting to avoid the crop. We are also testing the impact of stacking other weeding tools with the standard Farmdroid tools. Here you can see a finger weeder that isn't helping very much given the size of the weeds and the relatively slow max working speed of the Farmdroid. However, at earlier weed growth stages, the finger weeder helped reduce weeds right next to the crop that were missed by the active knives.
