Today we officially start our 2023 corn harvest. This is my very first corn crop and. Our John Deere 6620 is being put to the test. We are a very small farm with only 25 acres of corn this year, but plan to sell most of our corn locally. Thanks for watching and don't forget to leave a comment, like, and subscribe for more!

I just cant believe how they have access to just such a large variety of fruits , trees and plants. Feels like they live in paradise. Fresh produce right on their door step , surrounded by nature and enjoyed together in a close knit family and community! All the money in the world cant buy what they have.

Totally enjoyable video, wishing you the greatest success in all your endeavors. Hard work for sure, but farming is all about working for yourself. You have Matt Griggs to thank for the new viewers, he is a hard working dude who also is a farmer. Good man.

I appreciate it! I have been watching Matt since his accident 3 or so years ago, and that’s what I hope my channel can get to one day. His quality is unbelievable for a farming channel. He is one of my RU-vid idols for sure. Hope to meet them at the National Farm Machinery Show in KY next month.

Looks like an 806. Don’t let that ever get away. I still have some of my grandpa’s tractors. Slowly all being restored. I got a busted finger as well. Don’t know what happened but it’s swollen and full of pus. Going to buy another guitar tomorrow and can’t play it because of the finger. Good luck on harvest.

It is an IH 806! Grandpa bought it off a dairy when my mom was young. She actually road home with him on it, no fenders and all. My brother is wanting it and plans to fix it up the way it’s supposed to be. Has been a good tractor for the farm all these years! I cut my finger on the grain bin auger on the 6620. Thing was like a razor!

I don’t know about the other subscribers but I prefer natural noise over music.

I’m definitely open to opinions on that. My combine is just so loud, especially in the cab.

I notice complete stalks coming into the feeder housing. I’m not familiar with JD corn heads but don’t the have a stalk roller? You can adjust those rollers so only the cob is entering the feeder house.
@RouthFarms
@RouthFarms 10 месяцев назад
They do. My combine has a variable speed feeder house, but the cylinder that actuated it has stopped working. Therefore my head speed is sower than it needs to be. That along with the tops of the corn stalks are getting brittle and breaking off. Some of the stalks get to the cob and the cob and stalk break off.

That's a some purty corn you got there Buddy, and a beautiful piece of ground! What kind of yield did you get? How bout doing a video that tells a little about the farm's history and your Grandpa.
@RouthFarms
@RouthFarms 9 месяцев назад
I do plan on doing a video like that in the future. I just have to take the time to sit down with them and make sure I get all the facts ahead of time. Maybe a good winter video! Unfortunately I don’t have a yield monitor on the combine, and we didn’t do the greatest job keeping up with the truck loads, but I’m gonna say it averaged around 150 bushels an acre across the whole field. There was several places the corn completely drowned out in the spring.
