Put a silo tarp or some plastic in that hole and way it down with rocks and grade down between the houses down to it and line the trench with a little gravel on the plastic .that way when it rains and stuff it will run into the hole and use it kinda like a holding pond to help with water collection for irrigation.

Good job, Proper layout makes the rest of the job go better. Every time Bob see you do something different he thinks, "Maybe this will be the time I get to snake on some GS kibble". He loves when you get the ladder out. Feed the deer, then eat the deer. Great job. Thank you for sharing with us.

Thank you Marc! Ole Bob has come to be like a pet now. Guess I'll have to bring him some meat out there one day and make it official!

Hey you guys are so cute together! I have questions. 1. You said you were considering the next upgraded tunnel, did you purchase it? 2. How has the tunnel held up for year 23’?

Some MaryB grass going to be grown in the hoop house? 😏
@DonGPierson
@DonGPierson 3 года назад
Great Job GS. My wife was asking what you plan to grow in the house? She says it's a greenhouse and I tried to explain its a hoop house similar but different.
@GrandOutdoors
@GrandOutdoors 3 года назад
Thanks Jedi. When I think of a greenhouse I think of something a bit more permanent. Maybe even something with glass and heaters. These are more like season extenders for places that get really cold. Where I am there has been much success growing in the winter just as most would in the summer. I am planning on starting with salad greens. We'll see how they do and go from there.

The price has really gone up on these since I purchased mine. Anything that you'd need for that tunnel are on the farmers friend website. www.farmersfriend.com/zipper-door-end-wall-kit

@GS, Sir, as someone who does a lot of large tents/medieval pavilions, I am wondering what is keeping that entire cover from lifting straight off the rebar...I see the ropes but I didn't catch exactly how they were attached. It looks like another bracket. Look at it critically for me and make sure that the entire unit cannot be lifted straight up. I have seen waaayyy too many setups like that (think costco carports) just get picked up and thrown 30 yards by a microburst, steel pipes and all.
@GrandOutdoors
@GrandOutdoors 3 года назад
I show what is holding it down and explain it a bit during the video. There is a plate with hole fitted over the rebar driven in the ground which has a carabiner attached to it. The plate cannot come off at any angle but perfectly straight which can't happen if wind blows it one way or the other. They are on every rebar with two ropes attached to each carabiner going lengthwise of the tunnel crisscrossing from end to end. I watch several other channels that are located nearby learning about this type of gardening. They've been using these tunnels for many years weathering multiple tropical storms with no issues. I left trees up 360 degrees around the area providing somewhat of a windbreak. We'll find out how durable and secure they are when the next tropical storm or hurricane comes rolling through. Worst case I'll have to get another roll of plastic and mount the tunnel back in place.

@mdvlmangetmedieval2626 3 года назад
@@GrandOutdoors Ok, I see the plates in more detail from their website. Possible they could rattle off the rebar but low probability. Thanks.

My plan was to put some earth anchors in the ground, concrete around them, and connect those with more rope. I won't be moving this tunnel so I can be a bit more permanent with my setup.
